Puttamanna
Puttamanna is a village in Kalikavu Panchayat, Nilambur taluk in Malappuram district in the state of Kerala. . It is situated 31 kilometres (19 mi) from Manjeri 36 kilometres (22 mi) from Perintalmanna and 9 kilometres (6 mi) each from Karuvarakundu and Tuvvur. A stream flows through the village, which is a tributary of the Chaliyar. Culture Puttamanna village is a predominantly Muslim populated area. Hindus exist in comparatively smaller numbers. So the culture of the locality is based upon Muslim traditions. Duff Muttu, Kolkali and Aravanamuttu are common folk arts of this locality. Puttamanna has a historical background as well. Kolkali
Kolkali is a folk art performed in Malabar region of Kerala, India. The dance performers move in a circle, striking small sticks and keeping rhythm with special steps. The circle expands and contracts as the dance progress. The accompanying music gradually rises in pitch and the dance reaches its climax. Kolkali is now a popular event in Kerala School Kalolsavam, which is considered as the biggest cultural event of Asia. There are two styles of Kolkali: the actual Kolkali and Thekkan Koladi. Nilambur Road Railway Station
Nilambur Road railway station is a railway terminus serving the town of Nilambur in the Malappuram district of Kerala. It is the station of the Shoranur–Nilambur Road spur rail line of Palakkad Division of Southern Railways. Vaniyambalam
Vaniyambalam (Malayalam:) lies in Nilambur taluk in the Malappuram district, Kerala and is 40 km north-east of Malappuram. Surrounding towns include Pandikkad and Tuvvur (to the south), Kalikavu (in the east), and Wandoor and Nilambur (to the north). Vaniyambalam got its name as it means goddess Vani's (Saraswati) ambalam (temple) located at the top of Vaniyambalam Rock hill. It is famous for the fish market, as in olden times, people used to catch trains from Nilambur, Tuvvur and Melatur, just to buy fish.
