''Put Your Ghost To Rest'' is Kevin Devine's fourth studio album. It was released on October 17, 2006 through Capitol Records. It was his first and only major label release as of 2009. It was produced by Rob Schnapf, who had previously produced records by Elliott Smith, of whom Kevin is an avid fan. In regards to the album's political and social themes, Kevin said that "''I was always very abstractly political. I listened to punk rock records and thought I could punch my time card. And then all this shit in the world made me have to sit up and pay attention – and that’s a good thing. It’s a scary time, so why ignore it?”'' After being dropped by Capitol Records due to a merger with Virgin Records in early 2007, ''Put Your Ghost to Rest'' had become increasingly hard to find in retail locations. Kevin Devine
Kevin Devine (born December 19, 1979) is an American songwriter and musician from Staten Island, New York City, who is known for his introspective and political themes. He is a contemporary member of the underground indie rock and indie folk musical scenes, and his influences range from older indie artists such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Elliott Smith and Pavement to more mainstream and well known acts such as Nirvana and Bob Dylan. In 2013, Kevin Devine rejoined his previous band, Miracle of 86, for a series of reunion shows. 2007 Tour EP
''2007 Tour EP'' is a tour EP by Kevin Devine released during his 2007 U.S. tour opening for the bands Brand New and Manchester Orchestra. The EP contains mostly covers, along with a new version of "Wolf's Mouth" (originally from ''Make The Clocks Move'') and an acoustic version of "You'll Only End Up Joining Them" (originally from ''Put Your Ghost to Rest''). The EP contains songs played during that tour. Three tracks ("Harvest Moon," "Holland, 1945," and "Wolf's Mouth") were included as bonus tracks on the vinyl release of ''Put Your Ghost to Rest''. ''Make the Clocks Move'' is Kevin Devine's second studio album. It was released in 2003, making it the first of two albums released on Triple Crown Records. The German record label, Defiance Records, released a double LP set which bundled the album with Kevin's following album, ''Split the Country, Split the Street''. After it had been out of print for a period of time, the album was re-issued by Triple Crown Records on October 12, 2010. The re-issue features new artwork, Kevin's own extensive liner notes and an introductory note by Brand New vocalist Jesse Lacey. Neutral Milk Hotel
Neutral Milk Hotel was an American band formed in Ruston, Louisiana, by musician Jeff Mangum. They were active from 1989 to 1998, and again from 2013 to 2015. The band's music featured a deliberately low-quality sound, influenced by indie rock and psychedelic folk. Mangum wrote surreal and opaque lyrics that covered a wide range of topics, including love, spirituality, nostalgia, sex, and loneliness. He and the other band members played a variety of instruments, including non-traditional rock instruments like the singing saw, uilleann pipes, and Digital Horn. Brand New was an American rock band from Long Island, New York.
