Psoroglaena Stigonemoides
''Psoroglaena stigonemoides'' is a species of corticolous (bark-dwelling) lichen in the family Verrucariaceae. It occurs in Great Britain and Ireland. It was first described scientifically by lichenologist Alan Orange in 1989, as ''Macentina stigonemoides''. He collected the type specimen from Cardiganshire, Cambria, where it was found growing on the bark of '' Ulmus glabra'' in a humid forest. Aino Henssen transferred it to the genus '' Psoroglaena'' in 1995. The pale green, filamentous thallus of ''Psoroglaena stigonemoides'' is epiphloedal, meaning it is on the surface of the bark, with little or no penetration below the outermost layer. It has perithecioid ascomata measuring 200–340 μm wide and up to 420 μm high. Verrucariales is an order of ascomycetous fungi within the subclass Chaetothyriomycetidae of the class Eurotiomycetes. Although most of the Verrucariales are lichenised, the family Sarcopyreniaceae consists of 11 species of lichenicolous (lichen-dwelling) fungi. Phylogenomic analysis suggests that the divergence between the lichenized Verrucariales and nonlichenized Chaetothyriales The Chaetothyriales are an order of ascomycetous fungi in the class Eurotiomycetes and within the subclass Chaetothyriomycetidae. Aino Marjatta Henssen (12 April 1925, Elberfeld – 29 August 2011, Marburg), was a German lichenologist and systematist. Her father, Gottfried Henssen, was a folklorist and her mother was Finns, Finnish. Education and career Henssen began her studies in Biology in Freiburg, Germany, before continuing in Marburg, Germany. She obtained her doctorate in 1953, which focused on the physiology of ''Spirodela polyrhiza''. In 1963, she became the curator of the ''Botanisches Institut'' at ''University of Marburg, Philipps-Universität'' in Marburg, Germany.
