Prúdy is a Slovak rock band formed in the former Czechoslovakia in 1962. The original lineup of the band consisted of Marián Varga on organ and piano, Pavol Hammel on guitar and vocals, Vlado Mallý on drums, Peter Saller on guitar and Fedor Frešo on bass guitar. The 100 Greatest Slovak Albums Of All Time
The 100 Greatest Slovak Albums of All Time is a list of the best album releases issued by Slovak recording artists. As the first such list presented in Slovakia, it was published by '' Nový čas'' daily on 22 September 2007. The list is entirely composed of Slovak, or else of formerly Czechoslovak artists, featuring all albums published in the country of origin from the 1960s onwards. Some of nominated full-length records could have been performed also in a different language (occasionally in English but partially). Ranking itself was based on votes received from twenty-five selected native-born musicians, critics and/or industry figures. Each of them voted ten most significant Slovak LPs from the past four decades in the country. While the winning album became '' Zvoňte, zvonky'' (1969) by Prúdy band, the most-represented musical act on the list is female vocalist Marika Gombitová, having six out of her nine studio albums in total present. Pavol Hammel
Pavol Hammel (born 7 December 1948, in Bratislava) is a Slovakia, Slovak musician, singer and producer. Pavol Hammel was born to a family of musicians. His father played violin in the Slovak National Theatre, and influenced Pavol to become a promising violin player too. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Comenius University in Bratislava in 1976. He gained fame initially in the group Prúdy, but has since established a successful solo career. He is married and has two daughters. Marián Varga
Marián Varga (29 January 1947 – 9 August 2017) was a Slovak musician, composer and organist. Biography He played the piano from the age of six. He studied piano and composition at the conservatory in Bratislava. He left the conservatory after three years to become a member of the group Prúdy, and contributed to the legendary album '' Zvoňte zvonky''. He left Prúdy as suddenly as he had left conservatory only to establish the first Czechoslovak art rock band Collegium Musicum. The repertoire of Collegium Musicum, comprising mostly instrumental pieces, included reinterpretations of the themes of classics such as Joseph Haydn, Béla Bartók and Igor Stravinsky, complemented by original compositions. Already at this stage his work bore signs of postmodernism (Eufónia of the album Konvergencie), which later became the basic principle of his work. Rock Band
A rock band or pop band is a small musical ensemble that performs rock music, pop music, or a related genre. A four-piece band is the most common configuration in rock and pop music. In the early years, the configuration was typically two guitarists (a lead guitarist and a rhythm guitarist, with one of them singing lead vocals), a bassist, and a drummer (e.g. the Beatles and KISS).
