Prudencio Cardona
Prudencio Cardona (December 22, 1951 – August 4, 2019) was a Colombian professional boxer who was world flyweight champion. He represented his native country at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. He is the older brother of former super bantamweight world champion, Ricardo Cardona. Professional boxing career Prudencio Cardona made his professional boxing debut on November 2, 1973 defeating Luis Ramos by a four-round decision in Barranquilla, Colombia. Twenty two days later, Cardona earned his first knockout win, knocking out Humberto Ortega in four rounds at Barranquilla. Cardona's first seven fights were in Barranquilla; he won five of these bouts by knockout. On September 29, 1974, Cardona fought away from Barranquilla for the first time, losing his tag as an undefeated fighter when he dropped an eight-round decision to Henry Diaz in Cartagena. Eleoncio Mercedes (September 12, 1957 – December 22, 1985) was a Dominican boxer, who was world champion in the Flyweight division. He had a record of 14 wins, 12 losses and 2 draws, with 3 wins by knockout. Amateur career As an amateur he competed for his native country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was stopped in the first round of his opening round bout to Aleksandr Tkachenko of the Soviet Union. Freddy Castillo (born June 15, 1955) is a Mexican retired professional boxer who is the former WBC light flyweight champion, WBC and Lineal flyweight champion. Pro career Known as "Chato Loco", Castillo turned pro in 1971 and won the WBC light flyweight title with a TKO win over Luis Estaba in 1978. He lost the belt in his first defense later that year to Netrnoi Sor Vorasingh by split decision. He later moved up in weight and in 1982 won the WBC and lineal flyweight titles with a decision win over Prudencio Cardona. Orlando Maldonado (born May 21, 1959 in Bayamón, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican former professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1984, challenging for the WBC super flyweight title in 1983.
