Proud Theater
Proud Theater is a nonprofit theatre organization for LGBTQ+ youth with companies in the Wisconsin cities of Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, Sun Prairie, and Wausau. Proud Theater was founded in Madison in 1999 by Sol Kelley-Jones and Callen Harty. Harty is notable in the Madison theater community as having been Artistic Director of Broom Street Theater from 2005-2010. Harty's long-time partner Brian Wild, also formerly of Broom Street Theater, has served as executive director since Proud Theater's formal independent organization in 2011. Madison is the county seat of Dane County and the capital city of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Sun Prairie, Wisconsin
Sun Prairie is a city in Dane County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. A suburb of Madison, it is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city's population was 35,967 at the 2020 U.S. Census. It is the second-most populous city in Dane County after Madison. Broom Street Theater
Broom Street Theater (also known as Broom Street or BST) is an experimental black box theater located in the heart of Madison Isthmus, Madison's isthmus. As one of the oldest and most prolific experimental theater companies in the United States, it has produced over 350 original works. The Theater Offensive
The Theater Offensive is a Boston-based theatrical organization dedicated to the production of queer works. The Theater Offensive was founded in 1989 by Abraham Rybeck "to present the diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender lives in art so bold it breaks through personal isolation, challenges the status quo, and builds thriving communities." The Theater Offensive mounts and produces festivals and individual productions by national and local queer performers, and also serves as a development environment for new theatrical work.
