Caetano Veloso
Caetano Emanuel Viana Teles Veloso (; born 7 August 1942) is a Brazilian composer, singer, guitarist, writer, and political activist. Veloso first became known for his participation in the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalismo, which encompassed theatre, poetry and music in the 1960s, at the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship that took power in 1964. He has remained a constant creative influence and best-selling performing artist and composer ever since. Veloso has won nine Latin Grammy Awards and two Grammy Awards. On November 14, 2012, Veloso was honored as the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. The Cinemateca Brasileira is the institution responsible for preserving Brazilian audiovisual production. In July 2021, it experienced a major fire. Since 1940, it has been developing activities around the dissemination and restoration of its collection, with around 250 thousand rolls of films and more than one million documents related to cinema. It is located in Largo Senador Raul Cardoso, São Paulo. The building previously acted as the Old Municipal Slaughterhouse of São Paulo from 1887 to 1927. Joel Dias Barcellos (27 November 1936 – 10 November 2018) was a Brazilian actor. He appeared in more than 50 films and television shows between 1955 and 1997. He starred in the 1974 film '' Sagarana: The Duel'', which was entered into the 24th Berlin International Film Festival. In 2012 it was reported that he died while swimming, but this later turned out to be false. He later died of a stroke on 10 November 2018, aged 81. Thelma Salim Reston (6 July 1937 – 20 December 2012) was a Brazilian film, theater, and television actress. Thelma Reston was born in Piracanjuba, Goiás. She began a theater career in the 1960s and work in television in the 1970s. Reston's earlier filmography includes the 1967 film ''Entranced Earth'' and the 1984 film ''Quilombo''. She also took part in the 1992 telenovela '' Pedra sobre Pedra''. Her most recent television credits included ''A Lua Me Disse'' in 2005, ''Negócio da China'' in 2009, and ''Escrito nas Estrelas'' in 2010. Reston's last role was on the TV Globo telenovela, ''Aquele Beijo''. Reston died in São Lucas Hospital in Rio de Janeiro on 20 December 2012, at the age 75. Zózimo Bulbul (September 21, 1937 – January 24, 2013) was a Brazilian actor, filmmaker, and activist. Bulbul was a prominent proponent of Afro-Brazilian culture within Brazilian cinema and society at-large. Bulbul co-founded and organized the Encontro de Cinema Negro Brasil, África & Américas, which showcases films featuring African and Afro-Brazilian actors, directors, and themes. Bulbul made his film debut in the 1962 Brazilian motion picture, '' Cinco Vezes Favela''.
