Prinsessen Som Ingen Kunne Målbinde
''Prinsessen som ingen kunne målbinde'' (The Princess Who Always Had to Have the Last Word) is a Norwegian short film from 1932 based on the fairytale of the same name by Peter Christen Asbjørnsen. Harald Stormoen starred as the king, Andreas Aabel as Askeladd, and Unni Torkildsen as the princess. The film was directed by Walter Fürst. Plot At the royal court, the beautiful and loud-mouthed princess is amused by all her stupid suitors, who are thrown out one by one because they cannot marry her. Outside the old stave church, the king's soldiers read out the regulation on branding. Poor Askeladd and his two smug older brothers decide to set off to try their luck. To everyone's astonishment, Askeladd manages to best the princess, and the two brothers fail. Askeladd is rewarded with the princess and half the kingdom, and the brothers are branded. Walter Fyrst
Walter Fyrst (né Fürst; 6 July 1901 – 23 February 1993) was a Norwegian filmmaker. He was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), the son of the physician Valentin Fürst and Margarethe Christiane Dedekam. His first film was '' Troll-elgen'' from 1927, based on two novels by Mikkjel Fønhus. Other films were '' Cafe X'' from 1928 and ''Brudekronen'' from 1944. Fyrst made propaganda films for the Nazi regime during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. Eugen Skjønberg
Conrad Eugen Skjønberg (March 27, 1889 – July 25, 1971) was a Norwegian actor. Eugen Skjønberg was married to the actress Henny Skjønberg. They resided at Ramstad. He was the father of Per Skjønberg, Pål Skjønberg, and Espen Skjønberg, and the grandfather of Hennika Skjønberg, Siv Skjønberg, and Jo Skjønberg, all of whom were actors and actresses. Skjønberg started his career in the banking industry in Kragerø and Skien, but in his twenties he was discovered in the amateur theater by a dance teacher, who recommended him to Alma Fahlstrøm in 1913. Birger Løvaas (November 24, 1901 – June 5, 1977) was a Norwegian actor and comedian. Løvaas played Karl Anton over 2,000 times in Gideon Wahlberg's play ''Skjærgårdsflirt'' from 1928 to 1944, and he traveled throughout Norway with his theater. ''Skjærgårdsflirt'' was the most frequently viewed play of the twentieth century in Norway. Løvaas also played Karl Anton in the film version of ''Skjærgårdsflirt'' in 1932. Marie Hedemark
Marie "Maja" Hedemark (March 24, 1873 – August 8, 1959) was a Norwegian actress. Family Hedemark was the daughter of the teacher Emil Bernhard Olsen (1842–1897) and Severine Mathilde Heidenstrøm. She was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. She married the actor Hans Ingi Hedemark on December 23, 1905. Career Hedemark made her debut at the Fahlstrøm Theater in 1899 under the name ''Marie Heiden'', a name derived from her mother's maiden name. She was associated with that theater until it closed in 1911. She was employed at the Central Theater from 1911 until around 1942. Hedemark made her film debut in 1926 in '' Den nye lensmannen''. Finn Hugo Bernhoft (February 6, 1898 – April 27, 1981) was a Norwegian theater and film actor. Bernhoft was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He debuted in 1917 in Edvard Drabløs's touring theater, and he started working with the Trondheim National Theater that same year. He later played at Chat Noir, the Carl Johan Theater, and the Central Theater, and from 1948 to 1958 he was engaged with the Trøndelag Theater. Egil Hjorth-Jenssen (18 April 1893 – 8 November 1969) was a Norwegian actor and theatre director, playwright, children's writer and translator. Personal life Hjorth-Jenssen was born in Fredrikshald as a son of editor Gunnar Olaves Jenssen (1843–1924) and Anna Marie Cecilie Hjorth (1867–1929), and married Rachel Råby (1900–1958) in 1921. Alf Rød (February 19, 1894 – December 18, 1969) was a Norwegian screenwriter, playwright, and film director. He was the brother of the actor Einar Rød. Rød's main activity was as a screenwriter. He debuted as a screenwriter in 1926 with '' Baldevins bryllup'', based on a play by Vilhelm Krag. Rød wrote a total of seven film scripts between 1926 and 1941. Together with Thorleif Reiss, he also wrote the play ''Snehvit'' (Snow White), which was staged at the National Theater in Oslo in 1929. Human branding or stigmatizing is the process by which a mark, usually a symbol or ornamental pattern, is burned into the skin of a living person, with the intention that the resulting scar makes it permanent. Ashlad (Norwegian "Askeladden", full name "Esben Askelad" or "Espen Askeladd") is a main character in a number of tales collected in Asbjørnsen and Moe's ''Norwegian Folktales''. The character starts out being regarded as an incapable underachiever, but eventually proves himself by overcoming some prodigious deed, succeeding where all others have failed. The character's name appeared as Boots in Dasent's 19th century English translations. Name The name ''Askeladden'' (meaning 'ash-lad') or ''Askeladd'' is the standard form which Asbjørnsen and Moe eventually settled for. However, the storytellers used this alongside other variant names such as Askefis, sometimes interchangeably within the same tale.
