Ramasindrazana was a Malagasy princess and an aunt of Ranavalona III. Biography Princess Ramasindrazana was a member of the Malagasy royal family. She was an aunt of Princess Rasendranoro of Madagascar, Princess Rasendranoro and Ranavalona III, the last queen of Madagascar. After the monarchy was abolished by French Madagascar, French colonial rule in 1897, Ramasindrazana went into exile with other members of the royal family. Accompanied by Princess Rasendranoro and Princess Razafinandriamanitra of Madagascar, Princess Razafinandriamanitra, she joined Queen Ranavalona in Toamasina. The Merina Kingdom, or Kingdom of Madagascar, officially the Kingdom of Imerina (–1897), was a pre-colonial state off the coast of Southeast Africa that, by the 19th century, dominated most of what is now Madagascar.
