Prince Edward was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1904. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867, and consisted of the County of Prince Edward. The electoral district was abolished in 1924 when it was merged into Prince Edward—Lennox riding. The House of Commons of Canada (french: Chambre des communes du Canada) is the lower house of the Parliament of Canada. Together with the Crown and the Senate of Canada, they comprise the bicameral legislature of Canada. Prince Edward—Lennox (federal Electoral District)
Prince Edward—Lennox was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1925 to 1968. It was located in the province of Ontario. This riding was created in 1924 from Prince Edward riding and parts of Lennox and Addington riding. It initially consisted of the county of Prince Edward and the townships of Adolphustown, Amherst Island, Fredericksburg (North and South) and Richmond in the county of Lennox and Addington. In 1933, the township of Ernestown in the county of Lennox and Addington was added to the riding. The electoral district was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed between Prince Edward—Hastings, Kingston and the Islands and Frontenac—Lennox and Addington ridings. ''For other people named John Platt, see John Platt.'' John Milton Platt (April 18, 1840 – September 27, 1919) was a physician and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Prince Edward in the House of Commons of Canada from 1882 to 1891 as a Liberal member. He was born in Athol Township, Upper Canada, the son of Dyer Platt and Myria Morgan. Platt was educated at the Fort Edward Institute in New York state and at Victoria University in Cobourg. In 1872, Platt married Amelia Branscombe. He also served as a public school inspector and as surgeon for the militia. Platt was editor and publisher for the Picton ''New Nation''. His election in 1888 was overturned after an appeal but he won the by-election that followed. He was defeated by Archibald Campbell Miller when he ran for reelection in 1891. Archibald Campbell Miller
Archibald Campbell Miller (April 29, 1836 – November 17, 1898) was a farmer and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Prince Edward in the House of Commons of Canada from 1891 to 1896 as a Conservative member. He was born in Athol Township, Upper Canada, the son of Johnathan Miller and Parnell Leet, and was educated in Prince Edward County. In 1863, he married Ellen Rowland. His election in 1891 was declared void but Miller won the by-election that followed in 1892. He did not run for reelection in 1896. Miller operated a canning factory near Brighton.
