Preston North End Football Club, commonly referred to as Preston, North End or PNE, is a professional football club in Preston, Lancashire, England, who currently play in the EFL Championship, the second tier of the English football league system. Originally a cricket club, Preston has been based at Deepdale since 1875. The club first took up football in 1878 as a winter fitness activity and decided to focus on it in May 1880, when the football club was officially founded. Deepdale is now football's oldest ground in terms of continuous use by a league club. Preston North End was a founder member of the Football League in 1888. In the 1888–89 season, the team won both the inaugural league championship and the FA Cup, the latter without conceding a goal. In Association football, football, "The Invincibles" is a nickname used to refer to the Preston North End F.C., Preston North End team of the 1888–89 in English football, 1888–89 season, managed by William Sudell, and the Arsenal F.C., Arsenal 2003–04 Arsenal F.C. season, team of the 2003–04 FA Premier League, 2003–04 season managed by Arsène Wenger. Bill Shankly
William Shankly (2 September 1913 – 29 September 1981) was a Scottish football player and manager, who is best known for his time as manager of Liverpool. Shankly brought success to Liverpool, gaining promotion to the First Division and winning three League Championships and the UEFA Cup. He laid foundations on which his successors Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan were able to build by winning seven league titles and four European Cups in the ten seasons after Shankly retired in 1974. A charismatic, iconic figure at the club, his oratory stirred the emotions of the fanbase. Moor Park, Preston
Moor Park is a large park (with a perimeter of approx ) to the north of the city centre of Preston, Lancashire, England. Moor Park is also the name of the electoral ward covering the park and the surrounding area. The ward borders the traditional boundary of Fulwood. The population of the ward as at the 2011 census was 5,211. Park Moor Park lies to the north of Preston city centre on the A6 (Garstang Road), which forms the western boundary of the park. Blackpool Road between the A6 and Deepdale Road is the northern boundary. The latter forms the eastern side. Opposite the park on Deepdale Road is the Preston North End F.C.'s Deepdale stadium. Ashton-on-Ribble is a suburb of Preston, Lancashire, England. The population at the 2011 census was 4,459. Ashton-on-Ribble was recorded in the ''Domesday Book''. River Ribble
The River Ribble runs through North Yorkshire and Lancashire in Northern England. The 1969–70 season was the 90th season of competitive football in England. FA Cup Chelsea won the cup by beating Leeds United 2–1 in a replay at Old Trafford after a 2–2 draw at Wembley Stadium. In the replay Leeds took the lead through Mick Jones before an equaliser from Peter Osgood forced the replay to extra-time. David Webb then scored the winner in the 104th minute to give Chelsea a first ever FA Cup triumph. Manchester United beat Watford 2–0 at Highbury in the first ever third-place playoff, held the day before the final. The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. Paul Gallagher (born 8 September 1984) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.
