''Poogy Tales'' ( he, סיפורי פוגי, Sipurei Pugi) is the debut album by Israeli rock band, Kaveret, released in 1973. It is considered one of the most important albums in the history of Israeli music. It is also amongst the best selling albums in Israel, with over 140 thousand copies sold. Background ''Poogy Tales'' is the debut album of Kaveret. The album is based on the rock opera by the same name that Danny Sanderson recorded in 1972, together with his bandmates from The Nahal Band (Gidi Gov, Alon Oleartchik, Efrahim Shamir, Miri Aloni, David Shanen and Tami Azaria). Gov, Oleartchik and Shamir went on to become members of Kaveret. Abraham (Deshe) "Fashanel" who signed the band and produced the album, suggested recording the opera as individual songs. Songs Most of the album's songs were written by Sanderson, with some help from other band members with lyrics and music. Kaveret ( he, כוורת, lit. "beehive"), also known as Poogy ( he, פוגי, nickname of band drummer Meir Fenigstein chosen for their performances abroad), was an Israeli rock band, which operated originally from 1973 to 1976. Representing Israel in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, its songs featured humorous lyrics and ironic musical references. ''Eighth Day Slice'' and ''Fiddlin on Ya Roof'' are the second album and first album of original songs by the Australian punk rock band Yidcore, released on 13 June 2005 (see 2005 in music). ''Eighth Day Slice'' is an album containing Yidcore's first original, composed songs as well as several covers. It includes a cover of Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" and the track "Since I Bothered You" which both received play on Triple J as well as its counterpart music video show '' Rage''. ''Fiddlin on Ya Roof'' is a reworking of the musical ''Fiddler on the Roof''. Yidcore
Yidcore are an Australian Jewish punk rock band from Melbourne, formed in 1998. Known primarily for playing punk covers of Jewish and Israeli songs, the band started writing more of its own material in later albums. Logo and The band's logo is a variation of the Ramones logo (which, in its turn, is based on the Seal of the President of the United States), with the names of the band members in Hebrew. The eagle is replaced by a chicken with a menora above its head, the apple tree branch replaced by a shofar, the arrows replaced by the Magen David and the writing "Oy Vey, Let's Eat" instead of "Hey Ho, Let's Go". The logo can be seen on the album cover of Yidcore's compilation ''Rocket to Rechovoth''. Hed Arzi Music ( he, הד ארצי, meaning: ''Echo of My Country'') is an Israeli record label founded in 1946. History The company was founded in Tel Aviv in 1946 as a partnership of Zvi Levin (also known as Hirsch Lewin) with Josef Grossman, Alexander Borowitz and Ephraim Ruttenberg. Mr. Levin was a refugee from Berlin where he has owned and operated a bookshop and recording label ''Semer'' (from the Hebrew "Zemer", meaning song).
