Playboy (Ann Christine Song)
Finland was represented by Ann-Christine, with the song "Playboy", at the 1966 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 5 March in Luxembourg. Before Eurovision National final The Finnish national final took place on January 22nd at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki. The show was hosted by Tuula Ignatius and Risto Vanari. The winner was chosen by a professional jury in two rounds of voting. In the first round top 3 songs were chosen and in the second round the winner was chosen. At Eurovision On the night of the final Ann-Christine performed seventh in the running order, following Norway and preceding Portugal. It was the first Finnish entry conducted by Ossi Runne, who would conduct the Finnish Eurovision entry 22 times. Ann-Christine Nyström-Silén (; 26 July 1944 – 5 October 2022), also known by her stage name Ann-Christine, was a Finnish singer who performed in the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 for Finland with the song "Playboy". Tamara Adele Lund-Ioniță (6 January 1941 – 21 July 2005) was a Finnish soprano singer and actress. She was born in Turku and was a graduate of the Sibelius Academy. Toivo Kärki
Toivo Pietari Johannes Kärki (; 3 December 1915 – 30 April 1992) was a Finnish composer, musician, music producer and arranger. He is especially remembered for his collaboration with Reino Helismaa. Kärki composed approximately 1400 recorded compositions, many of which had several versions, and wrote hundreds of unrecorded songs. He composed the music for about 50 films, several revues, theatrical plays, and radio comedies. He also arranged a large number of songs written by other people. He trained several of Finland's most important popular music lyricists. During his career, he helped dozens of singers get started in the industry, many of which remain active to this day. Carola Christina Standertskjöld-Liemola (23 March 1941 – 12 November 1997), professionally known as Carola, was a Finnish jazz and pop singer. Her style was partially inspired by American singers of the 1950s. Simultaneously, it was in the spirit of the modal jazz scene going down in Europe in the 1960s. Mostly, Carola's jazz repertoire consisted in idiosyncratic versions of American songs in English, while her most famous jazz track "The Flame" was an original composition by Esa Pethman and the lyrics by the singer herself. As the vocalist for Esa Pethman's quartet and Hazy Osterwald's sextet in the early 1960s, Carola made fame in Finland and Sweden, and toured Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Switzerland. Viktor Klimenko (singer)
Viktor Savvich Klimenko (born 24 November 1942) is a singer who made himself known as the "Singing Cossack". Biography Klimenko was born in Karelia, to a Russian Kuban Cossack father, Savva Klimenko, and a Russian mother, Olga Glotova. A few years after his birth, his family moved to Finland. There, he became a musician and appeared in several films, mostly appearing as himself. The Eurovision Song Contest 1965 was his first appearance outside of Finland; his song didn't earn any points in the competition. In 1970, Klimenko released the album ''Stenka Rasin'' across Europe. The album, containing Russian songs, went gold in the Finnish market—the first record to do so in Finland. Later, it was certified platinum. Laura “Laila” Annikki Kinnunen (8 November 1939, Vantaa – 26 October 2000, Heinävesi) was a Finnish singer. She was one of the most popular Finnish singers of the 1950s and 1960s, and represented Finland at the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest, the first time Finland participated in the contest. She spent her childhood in Sweden as a refugee from the Second World War, returning to Finland at the age of ten.
