Plateau–Manoir-des-Trembles District
The Plateau–Manoir-des-Trembles District (District 4) was a municipal district in the city of Gatineau, Quebec. It was represented on Gatineau City Council by Maxime Tremblay for the entirety of its existence. The district was located on the western edge of the Hull sector of the city. Birch Manor
A birch is a thin-leaved deciduous hardwood tree of the genus ''Betula'' (), in the family Betulaceae, which also includes alders, hazels, and hornbeams. It is closely related to the beech-oak family Fagaceae. Plateau District
Plateau District (District 4) is a municipal district in the city of Gatineau, Quebec. It is currently served on Gatineau City Council by Bettyna Belizaire of Action Gatineau. The district spans the Aylmer and Hull sectors of the city, and contains the Plateau neighbourhood. The district was created for the 2013 election from parts of Deschênes District and Plateau–Manoir-des-Trembles District. Following the 2021 redistribution, the western half of the Plateau was transferred to the new Mitigomijokan District. Manoir-des-Trembles–Val-Tétreau District (District 6) is a municipal electoral division in the city of Gatineau, Quebec. It is currently served on Gatineau City Council by Jocelyn Blondin. The district is located in the Hull and Aylmer sectors of the city. Nycole Turmel
Nycole Turmel (born September 1, 1942) is a Canadian politician who served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Hull—Aylmer from 2011 to 2015. A member of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Turmel served as the party's interim leader from 2011 to 2012. Turmel was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2011 federal election, representing the electoral district of Hull—Aylmer, and became interim leader of the New Democratic Party after leader Jack Layton took a leave of absence in the summer of 2011 for health reasons. When Layton subsequently died from complications due to cancer on August 22, 2011, Turmel became Leader of the Official Opposition, the second woman to be so appointed. She held both positions until the selection of Thomas Mulcair in the 2012 leadership election on March 24, 2012. She was defeated in the 2015 general election.
