Place Des Fêtes (Paris Métro)
Place des Fêtes () is a station of the Paris Métro, serving lines 7bis (towards Pré Saint-Gervais only) and 11 in the 19th arrondissement and the Belleville district. It is one of the deepest stations in the metro at 22.45 meters underground (Abbesses is the deepest at 36 meters). History The station opened on 18 January 1911 as part of a branch of line 7 from Louis Blanc to ''Pré Saint-Gervais''. The line 11 platforms opened with the first section of the line from Châtelet to Porte des Lilas on 28 April 1935. Along with Maison Blanche, a prototype air raid shelter was added to the station in 1935 to protect it from chemical attacks and was fitted with airtight doors to allow the people to take refuge in the event of an attack. They were chosen due to their proximity to heavily populated, working-class districts. On 3 December 1967, this branch was separated from line 7, becoming ''line 7bis''. The Paris Métro (french: Métro de Paris ; short for Métropolitain ) is a rapid transit system in the Paris metropolitan area, France. Rosny–Bois Perrier station ( French: ''Gare de Rosny—Bois Perrier'') is a French railway station in Rosny-sous-Bois, in Seine-Saint-Denis ''département'', in Île-de-France region. Location The station is at kilometric point 11.216 of Paris–Mulhouse railway. Its altitude is 75 m. History Rosny–Bois Perrier station opened in 1971. A ghost station is a disused train station through which revenue-service passenger trains (especially rapid transit trains) pass but at which they do not stop. The term is also sometimes used for any unused underground station or any unused station, whether or not trains pass through them. Paris Métro Line 3bis
Paris Métro Line 3bis ( French: ''Ligne 3 bis du métro de Paris'') is one of the sixteen lines of the Paris Métro. It connects Gambetta and Porte des Lilas in the 20th arrondissement in the east of Paris. With a length of and four stations, the line is the shortest in the network. It is also the least used line, with just over 1.6 million passengers in 2003, behind Line 7bis's 3.5 million. The line was constructed during the 1910s as an extension to Line 3, but the two were disconnected in 1971. From then on Line 3bis was operated separately. Télégraphe () is a station on line 11 of the Paris Métro in the 19th and 20th arrondissements. It is named after the nearby rue de Télégraphe, which was once a ''chemin de ronde'' (a raised protected walkway behind a battlement) of the park of the ''Château de Ménilmontant''. Its name comes from the optical telegraph invented by Claude Chappe (1763–1805) in 1792. This was the first practical telecommunications system, but was eventually replaced by the electric telegraph. Chappe installed the relay station, containing the telegraph's apparatus which he called a ''tachygraphe'', on this peak of 128 meters altitude. Mairie Des Lilas (Paris Métro)
Mairie des Lilas () is a station of the Paris Métro in the commune of Les Lilas and serves as the northern terminus of line 11. It is named after the town hall of Les Lilas. A small underground depot is located near the station to service the trains of line 11. The station is sometimes believed to be the subject of the Serge Gainsbourg song "Le Poinçonneur des Lilas", about a Métro ticket inspector, although the promotional film for it was filmed at the Porte des Lilas. History The station opened as part of the extension of the line from Porte des Lilas on 17 February 1937. Jourdain () is a station on line 11 of the Paris Métro in the 19th and 20th arrondissements. It is named after the nearby ''rue du Jourdain'', referring to a nearby church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, who baptised Christ in the Jordan River. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. Botzaris () is a station on Line 7bis of the Paris Métro. Located in the 19th arrondissement, it was named after Markos Botsaris, a hero of the Greek War of Independence. East of this station, line 7bis becomes a unidirectional loop. History The station opened on 18 January 1911 as part of a branch of line 7 from Louis Blanc to Pré-Saint-Gervais, 18 days after the commissioning of the first section of line 7 between Opéra and Porte de la Villette due to difficulties during its construction. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks.
