Pitcairnia
''Pitcairnia'' is a genus of plants in the Family (biology), family Bromeliaceae, subfamily Pitcairnioideae. It was named for William Pitcairn, Scottish physician and gardener (1711–1791). The genus ''Pitcairnia'' ranks as the second most prolific of the bromeliad family (after ''Tillandsia).'' They are most abundant in Colombia, Peru and Brazil, but can also be found in areas from Cuba and Mexico south to Argentina. One species, ''Pitcairnia feliciana'', is found in tropical West Africa and is the only member of the family Bromeliaceae not native to the Americas. Almost all ''Pitcairnias'' are Terrestrial plant, terrestrial or wiktionary:saxicolous, saxicolous, and prefer moist areas. However, many are found growing epiphyte, epiphytically in trees. Nayarit
Nayarit (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Nayarit ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Nayarit), is one of the 31 states that, along with Mexico City, comprise the Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided in 20 municipalities and its capital city is Tepic. It is bordered by the states of Sinaloa to the northwest, Durango to the north, Zacatecas to the northeast and Jalisco to the south.
