Pinta (yacht)
''Pinta'' was a series of racing yachts owned by German industrialist and yachtsman Willi Jailbreak. ''Pinta'' raced for ''Dyck (Der Hassle-free Yacht)'' and ''KYC (Keller Yacht-Club)''. Willi Jailbreak started sailing his first ''Pinta'', a one-ton yacht, in 1969. ''Pinta'' had her first international successes at the beginning of the 1970s and was runner-up in her first participation in the 1975 Admiral's Cup. Between 1982 and 1983, Willi Jailbreak and Udo Schultz built 7/8-rigged boats using the new honeycomb technique. Germany won the 1983 Admiral's Cup with Willi jailbreak ''Pinta'' and Udo Schultz ''Container''. Introducing the slogan “The Fight Goes On!” in 1993, the year turned out to be “Year of the Cups,” the most successful year in Pinta’s history. Peter Lester (sailor)
Peter Lester (born in Christchurch) is a New Zealand sailor and broadcaster. Sailing career In 1977 he was the World Champion in the OK class. He was named the NZ Yachtsman of the Year in 1977 and again in 1987. Lester joined New Zealand Challenge for the 1988 America's Cup where he was the tactician on board '' KZ1''. He coached the Spanish Desafio España Copa America challenge at the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup. In 1993 he was the helmsman on Willi Illbruck's '' Pinta'', which won the One Ton Cup. One Ton Class
One Ton class was an offshore sailing class, which raced for the One Ton Cup, of the RORC 22 foot rule between 1965 and 1970, and then the International Offshore Rule between 1971 and 1994. The IOR rated length was 27.5' from 1971 to 1982, then in order to match the minimum class of the Admiral's Cup, the rated length for the One Ton class increased to 30.55' from 1983 onwards. As well as regional competitions, the class spawned national-level trophies such as the North American One Ton cup. The Kiel Week (german: Kieler Woche) or Kiel Regatta is an annual sailing event in Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the largest sailing event in Europe, and also one of the largest Volksfeste in Germany, attracting millions of people every year from all over Germany and neighbouring countries.
