Puno
Puno ( Aymara and ) is a city in southeastern Peru, located on the shore of Lake Titicaca. It is the capital city of the Puno Region and the Puno Province with a population of approximately 140,839 (2015 estimate). The city was established in 1668 by viceroy Pedro Antonio Fernández de Castro as capital of the province of Paucarcolla with the name San Juan Bautista de Puno. Badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, was played at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium (renamed to Yoyogi National Stadium for the Games) from 1 to 5 September 2021. There were a total of fourteen events taking place: seven male events (six singles, one doubles), six female events (four singles, two doubles) and one mixed doubles event. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Qu Zimo (born 22 September 2001) is a Chinese wheelchair badminton player. He won two gold medals in para-badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in men's singles WH1 and men's doubles WH1''–''WH2 respectively. Personal life Qu was born in Shijiazhuang in Hebei, China. At three months old, Qu was diagnosed with polio and was paralyzed in his lower limbs. Choi Jung-man (, born 8 January 1979) is a South Korean para badminton player. He competed at the 2024 Summer Paralympics, where he reached the finals of the men's singles WH1 event and won a silver medal. Biography Choi was an active Taekwondo athlete during his high school years. In 1996, he suffered spinal nerve damage in a traffic accident in 1996, paralyzing the lower half of his body. After becoming disabled, he transformed into a wheelchair badminton player and rekindled his dream of becoming an athlete. After being selected as a national team member, he demonstrated world-class skills in domestic and international competitions.
