Pietro Della Valle ( la, Petrus a Valle; 2 April 1586 – 21 April 1652), also written Pietro della Valle, was an Italian composer, musicologist, and author who travelled throughout Asia during the Renaissance period. His travels took him to the Holy Land, the Middle East, Northern Africa, and as far as India. Life Pietro Della Valle was born in Rome on 2 April 1586, to a wealthy and noble family. His early life was spent in the pursuit of literature and arms. He was a cultivated man, who knew Latin, Greek, classical mythology, and the Bible. He also became a member of the Roman Accademia degli Umoristi, and acquired some reputation as a versifier and rhetorician. When Pietro was disappointed in love and began to consider suicide, Mario Schipano, a professor of medicine in Naples, suggested the idea of travelling in the East. Farmanieh (also spelled Farmaniyeh) ( fa, فرمانیه) is a wealthy district located in northern Greater Tehran in the area named Shemiran. It lies within Shemiranat County and also district one of Tehran Municipality. Farmanieh has one of, if not the highest household income rates in Tehran, being home to many embassies, nobles and notables of Iran. The name of Farmanieh is based on Farmanfarmaian house, one of the noble houses in Qajar dynasty era who used to own much of the land in the area. Farmanieh is bordered by Niavaran on the north, Dezashib on the west, Pasdaran Avenue on the east, and Sadr Expressway and Chizar on the south. The main street of the neighborhood is called Farmanieh Avenue. Shemirān ( fa, شمیران, , also Romanized as Shemīrān or Šemirân), also known as Shemirānāt ( fa, شمیرانات ) is the capital of Shemiranat County, Tehran Province, Iran, but is actually located just north of the borders of Tehran County along Chamran Expressway and Sadr Expressway and it is the northernmost district of the city of Tehran.
