Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg
Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg (Freiburg Philharmonic) is the symphony orchestra of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, founded in 1887. It plays concerts in the Konzerthaus Freiburg and opera in the Theater Freiburg. History The Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1887 and since then has worked with artists such as Clara Schumann and Richard Strauss. The Philharmonic Society, founded by Hermann Dimmler in 1877, had already existed before this, bringing well-known musicians and composers such as Eugen d'Albert and Franz Liszt to Freiburg. From 1867, there was the post of municipal bandmaster, who directed the theatre orchestra consisting of military musicians and laymen. At the time the orchestra was founded, the ''Kapellmeister'' Giesecker was the conductor of the ensemble. In physics, the center-of-momentum frame (also zero-momentum frame or COM frame) of a system is the unique (up to velocity but not origin) inertial frame in which the total momentum of the system vanishes. Karen Kamensek (born January 2, 1970 in Chicago) is an American orchestral and opera conductor. Biography Her parents came from Kamnica pri Mariboru, Slovenia. Kamensek received degrees in orchestral conducting and piano performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. Kamensek has served as the 1st Kapellmeister of the Volksoper Wien from 2000 to 2002. She was ''Generalmusikdirektorin'' (General Music Director) of the Theater Freiburg from 2003 to 2006, the first female conductor in the Freiburg past. She has served as Interim Music Director at the Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor from 2007 to 2008, and Associate Music Director at the Staatsoper Hamburg from 2008 to 2011. Career Early history and education Ryan is the son of Joya Gomez, a school teacher and actress and Selwyn Ryan, a university professor. Johannes Fritzsch (born Meissen, Germany, 1960) is a German conductor. Biography Fritzsch's father, a cantor and organist, was his first music teacher, in piano and organ. His brother Georg Fritzsch (born 1963) is also a conductor. His other brother, Rainer Fritzsch (born 1974), is a cantor in Radeberg. Fritzsch continued his musical studies on violin and trumpet. Sir Donald Cameron Runnicles OBE HonFRSE (born 16 November 1954, Edinburgh, Scotland) is a Scottish conductor. Life and career The son of William Runnicles, a director of a furniture supply company and a choirmaster and organist, and Christine Runnicles, he began his education at George Heriot's School in Edinburgh, moving later to George Watson's College which offered a specialised music education facility, followed by the University of Edinburgh and St John's College, Cambridge. Ádám Fischer (born 9 September 1949 in Budapest) is a Hungarian conductor. He is the general music director of the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra, chief conductor of the Danish Chamber Orchestra, and chief conductor of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. Klauspeter Seibel (7 May 1936 in Offenbach am Main – 8 January 2011 in Hamburg) was a German conductor. Trained at the Nuremberg Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, he was principal conductor of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra (1980–1988), the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra (1987–1995), and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (1995–2005). Marek Janowski (born 18 February 1939 in Warsaw) is a Polish-born German conductor. He is currently chief conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic. Childhood Janowski grew up in Wuppertal, near Cologne, after his mother traveled there at the start of World War II to be with her parents. His father disappeared in Poland during the war. Career Janowski served as music director in Freiburg and at the Dortmund Opera conducting the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, the latter from 1973 to 1979.
