Phaedon Georgitsis
Phaedon Georgitsis ( el, Φαίδων Γεωργίτσης; 21 January 1939 – 1 March 2019) was a Greek actor. He was a popular actor of Greek cinema. He starred in many films, 13 of which were produced by Finos Film. He was also one of the main protagonists of Greek theatre. He died on 1 March 2019, after a battle with brain cancer. Finos Film (Greek: Φίνος Φιλμ) is a film production company that dominated the Greek film industry from 1943 to 1977. It was founded by Filopimin Finos in 1942 during World War II. It was the biggest film production company in Greece at the time and one of the biggest, in terms of productivity, in southeast Europe. After 34 years, Finos Films returned to the Greek film scene with the Greek-Italian co-production 'Urania' (2006). A brain tumor occurs when abnormal cells form within the brain. There are two main types of tumors: malignant tumors and benign (non-cancerous) tumors. ''The Red Lanterns'' ( el, Τα κόκκινα φανάρια, translit. Ta Kokkina fanaria) is a 1963 Greek drama film directed by Vasilis Georgiadis and based on a play by Alekos Galanos. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was also entered into the 1964 Cannes Film Festival. ''Gorgones ke Manges'' (''Mermaids and Rascals'') is a 1968 film starring Mary Chronopoulou. Plot Rumours have it that a Swiss company is making investment plans to develop a Greek island. A couple of Athenian entrepreneurs rush to the island to buy land and flip it for profit. The Athenian couple, a race-car driver and an actress, meet the resistance of the island's grand old lady who does not wish to sell land to outsiders. The business plans eventually fail to materialise but romance ensues between the actress and the son of the lady as well as the race-car driver and a local girl.
