Petter Næss
Petter Næss (born 14 March 1960 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian actor and film director. His first film as a director was the comedy ''Absolutt blåmandag'' in 1999. Næss is best known for his work directing two of the three films about Ingvar Ambjørnsen's Elling character, ''Elling'' (2000), which was nominated for the foreign language film Academy Awards, Oscar and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (Love Me Tomorrow), (2005), in addition to ''Bare Bea'' (2003), ''Mozart and the Whale'' (2005) and ''Hoppet (film), Hoppet'' (''The Jump'', 2007) in Sweden. In 2008, Næss portrayed the war hero Martin Linge in the movie ''Max Manus (film), Max Manus''. Otherwise, he has primarily occupied himself in the world of plays and revues, both as a scriptwriter, director and actor. Since 1997, he has been employed as a director at Oslo Nye Teater, and was, among other plays, responsible for the critically acclaimed stage version of ''Elling and Kjell Bjarne''. Mozart And The Whale
''Mozart and the Whale'' (released as ''Crazy in Love'' in some parts of Europe) is a 2005 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Petter Næss and starring Josh Hartnett and Radha Mitchell. The film is loosely based on the lives of Jerry and Mary Newport. Plot Donald Morton (Josh Hartnett) is a taxi driver with Asperger's Syndrome and drives two Japanese passengers and his pet cockatiel around Spokane, Washington. Oslo Nye Teater is a theater located in Oslo, Norway. The theater has its main stage in its own theater house at Rosenkrantz' gate 10. It is one of Norway's most visited theatres. ''Max Manus: Man of War'' is a 2008 Norwegian biographical war film based on the real events of the life of resistance fighter Max Manus (9 December 1914 – 20 September 1996). The story follows Manus (Aksel Hennie) from the Winter War against the Soviet Union, through the outbreak of World War II and the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany until peacetime in 1945. Martin Linge
Martin Jensen Linge, (11 December 1894 – 27 December 1941) was a Norwegian actor who, in World War II, became the commander of the Norwegian Independent Company 1 (NOR.I.C.1) (pronounced as ''Norisen'' by the Norwegians), formed in March 1941 for operations on behalf of the Special Operations Executive. Biography Martin Linge was born in Norddal, Møre og Romsdal County, Norway. In 1915 he graduated as a non-commissioned officer from the military school in Trondheim. ''Hoppet'' is a 2007 in film, 2007 film, motion picture directed by Petter Næss. Plot The Kurdish boys Azad and Tigris are brothers. Due to an airstrike Tigris cannot speak anymore. They are sent to an uncle in Germany, the parents plan to come soon afterwards. The boys travel through Sweden and are accompanied by another family until Sweden. They get stuck there and have to live with the family in Sweden. Azad is good at high jumping and gets the opportunity to travel to Germany for a competition. However, he has no passport. Therefore, he borrows the passport of a Swedish friend, and changes his appearance to look like the picture: he puts in blue lenses and dyes his hair blonde. Tigris is smuggled into Germany in a suitcase. When he is about to be discovered by the border guard, the latter is distracted with conversation, and they can move on.
