''Petitioning the Empty Sky'' is the second studio album by American metalcore band Converge. However, contrary to many sources, the band considers this a compilation album, being a collection of songs recorded at different times. While tracklists differ between releases, this album features studio recorded tracks along with live recordings of three songs. ''Petitioning the Empty Sky'' was released and distributed through several different labels beginning in the mid 90s. Release ''Petitioning the Empty Sky'' was originally released through Ferret Music in 1996 and was also one of the earliest albums released through the newly formed label. This early version was a 7-inch EP featuring only the first four tracks of the eventual full-length. Later that same year the record was re-released with four new tracks added to it. WUML (91.5 MHz) is a non-commercial FM college radio station licensed to Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. The station is owned by the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The transmitter is atop Fox Hall on Pawtucket Street in Lowell. History WUML was started in 1952 by Ed Bonacci, a student attending what was then called the Lowell Technological Institute. After accidentally building a transmitter in his dorm room, a studio was built in Kitson Hall, with a 5-10 watt transmitter located in the basement of the old library. ''Halo in a Haystack'' is the debut album by American metalcore band Converge, released in 1994 through Earthmaker Records. Overview To fund the making of the record, vocalist Jacob Bannon saved up money from working at a nursing home. The record was released as a black vinyl and is not available in any other format. Only 1000 copies of this record were made and the record has not been reprinted since. However all of the record's tracks with the exception of the 9th track "Exhale" can be found on later Converge releases such as 1995's ''Caring and Killing'' and 2002's ''Unloved & Weeded Out''. Deathwish, Inc. is an American independent record label conceived by Jacob Bannon of Converge and Tre McCarthy in 2000. Their first release was '' Deeper the Wound'', a split album between Converge and Japanese band Hellchild on April 23, 2001. Deathwish established itself quickly, working with a diverse group of bands and eventually becoming one of the most respected and innovative labels in contemporary hardcore punk and aggressive music in general. Kurt Ballou
Kurt Ballou (born February 1, 1974) is an American musician and producer based in Massachusetts, best known as the guitarist for hardcore punk band Converge and for his prolific recording and production work at his own GodCity Studio. Early and personal life Kurt Ballou started playing saxophone in elementary school. He performed in jazz band, concert band and orchestra, dabbling between baritone saxophone, bassoon and bass clarinet. Ballou was accepted to join the Hartford School of Music, but he opted to study aerospace engineering instead. His father used to have a guitar that Ballou played occasionally, but it did not interest him until a school friend gave him Slayer tapes around the age of sixteen. Isis (sometimes stylized ISIS) was an American post-metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997. The band borrowed from and helped to evolve the post-metal sound pioneered by bands such as Neurosis and Godflesh, characterized by lengthy songs focusing on repetition and evolution of structure.
