Peruvian Democratic Party
The Peruvian Democratic Party (Spanish: ''Partido Demócrata Peruano'', PDP) is a Peruvian political party founded on 26 June 2006 by former Union for Peru (UPP) members following differences within the party. Elected Congress members Carlos Torres Caro, Gustavo Espinoza and Rocío González left UPP after the defeat of the party's presidential ticket, led by Ollanta Humala and featuring Torres Caro as a candidate to Second Vice-President, in the Second Round (runoff) of the 2006 national election. Carlos Torres Caro
Carlos Alberto Torres Caro (born 14 September 1963) is a Peruvian lawyer and politician and a former Congressman representing Lima for the 2006–2011 term. Biography He was born in the province of Casma, department of Ancash, on September 14, 1963. Son of the history professor Marcos Torres Herrera and the literary educator and lawyer Blanca Caro Anduaga, the first woman in the history of Peru to lead a large unit boys' school with more than 200 teachers and 4000 students in three shifts. Union for Peru ( es, Unión por el Perú) was a Peruvian political party founded by Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, an ex- UN Secretary General, in 1994 to run for the Presidency of Peru in the 1995 general elections. The Congress of the Republic of Peru ( es, Congreso de la República) is the unicameral body that assumes legislative power in Peru. Congress' composition is established by Chapter I of Title IV of the Constitution of Peru. Gustavo Espinoza Roman is a Peruvian politician and a former Congressman representing Lambayeque for the 2006–2011 term. 2006 Peruvian General Election
General elections were held in Peru in on 9 April 2006 to elect the President, two Vice-Presidents, 120 members of Congress and five members of the Andean Parliament for the 2006–2011 period. As the no presidential candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 4 June between the top two candidates, Ollanta Humala and Alan García.
