Perth—Wilmot
Perth (also known as Perth—Wilmot) was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1935 to 1988. This riding was created in 1933 from Perth North and parts of Perth South ridings. It initially consisted of the county of Perth, excluding the townships of Fullarton and Hibbert, but including the city of Stratford, the town of Mitchell, and the part of the village of Tavistock that lies in the county of Perth. In 1947, Perth riding was redefined to consist of the county of Perth, excluding the townships of Fullarton, Logan, and Hibbert but including the city of Stratford and that part of the village of Tavistock contained in the township of Easthope South. Waterloo is the name of a federal electoral district in the Waterloo Region of Ontario, Canada, that has been used in the House of Commons of Canada from since 1968 (from 1973 to 1976, it was known as Waterloo—Cambridge). Oxford is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since the 1935 election. It consists of the County of Oxford and a small portion of the County of Brant. History It was created in 1933 when the ridings of Oxford North and Oxford South were merged. Perth—Wellington—Waterloo was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1997. It was located in the province of Ontario. This riding was created in 1987 from parts of Perth, Waterloo and Wellington—Dufferin—Simcoe ridings. The riding consisted of the County of Perth, the townships of Wellesley and Wilmot in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, and the Village of Drayton and the townships of Maryborough and Peel in the County of Wellington. Frederick George Sanderson
Frederick George Sanderson (12 October 1870 – 8 December 1954) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in St. Marys, Ontario and became an agent, farmer and manufacturer by career. He attended St. Marys Collegiate Institute, then studied at the Ontario College of Pharmacy. His functions with the Liberal Party included a role as Ontario Liberal Whip in 1926, and in 1929 he became chief Ontario organizer for the federal party. Sanderson was a municipal politician in St. Marys, Ontario, as a councillor from 1908 to 1910, then mayor in 1911 and 1912, and served on the Public Utility Commission from 1914 to 1916. Jay Monteith
Jay Waldo Monteith, (June 24, 1903 – December 19, 1981) was a Canadian politician. Born in Stratford, Ontario, the son of Joseph Dunsmore Monteith, an Ontario MPP and cabinet minister, and Allice Chowen, he graduated from the University of Toronto and became a chartered accountant in 1932. He was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in 1953 as a Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament for the riding of Perth, Ontario. He was re-elected in 1957, 1958, 1962, 1963, 1965, and 1968. From 1957 to 1963, he was the Minister of National Health and Welfare. From 1961 to 1963, he was also the Minister of Amateur Sport. He famously remarked to Lester Pearson that 'you must be nuts!' after Pearson presumed to ask Tories to give up their fight to keep Canada's Red Ensign.
