Perempuan Tanah Jahanam
''Impetigore'' ( id, Perempuan Tanah Jahanam, lit=Woman of the damned land) is a 2019 Indonesian horror film written and directed by Joko Anwar. The film stars Tara Basro, Marissa Anita, Christine Hakim, Asmara Abigail, and Ario Bayu. The film follows Maya (Basro), who travels with her friend Dini (Anita) to her remote ancestral village seeking an inheritance, after being mysteriously attacked. Almost a decade in development, the film was announced in 2011 but was initially shelved. Seven years later, ''Impetigore'' was secured as an international co-production between Indonesian, South Korean and US-based production houses. Filming took place on location at various sites in East Java, facing challenges due to the remoteness of the main village location and Anwar being hospitalised with dengue fever. Joko Anwar
Joko Anwar (born 3 January 1976) is an Indonesian film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. Prior to becoming a filmmaker, he worked as a journalist and film critic. Anwar first rose to prominence for co-writing Nia Dinata's 2003 hit ''Arisan!'' which won five awards at the 2004 Citra Award. He then made his feature film directorial debut with the romantic comedy ''Joni's Promise'' in 2005, gaining a Best Director nomination at the 2005 Citra Award. Dalang (puppeteer)
The dhalang or dalang ( jv, dhalang; id, dalang) is the puppeteer in an Indonesian ''wayang'' performance. In a performance of ''wayang kulit'', the dalang sits behind a screen (''kelir'') made of white cotton stretched on a wooden frame. Above his head, hanging from beams attached to the top of the screen, is the lamp (''blencong''), which projects the shadows onto the screen. In front of the dhalang is a stage (''debog''), traditionally made from the trunk of a banana tree, into which the sharpened control rods of the puppets can be pushed to keep them in position during the performance. To his left is the puppet chest (''kotak''), and to his right is the puppet chest's lid, on which the puppets sit ready for use. A golok is a cutting tool, similar to a machete, that comes in many variations and is found throughout the Malay archipelago. It is used as an agricultural tool as well as a weapon.
