The 2020 Sundance Film Festival took place from January 23 to February 2, 2020. The first lineup of competition films was announced on December 4, 2019. Channing Godfrey Peoples is an American writer, director, and producer. Her feature film directorial debut ''Miss Juneteenth'' received critical acclaim. Early life and education Peoples was raised on the south side of Fort Worth in what she referred to as "Black Texas". Ekwa Msangi is a Tanzanian-American filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter. She teaches Production and Cultural Studies at New York University. Early life Msangi was born to immigrants in Oakland, California. Her parents were Fulbright scholars who attended Stanford University in the 1980s. She was raised in Kenya after her family moved back when she was five years old.
