Per Laursen
Per Laursen (born 16 April 1966) is a Danish professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournaments. BDO career Laursen reached the final of the WDF World Cup in both single and pairs (with Brian Sorensen) in 2005 and won the Welsh Open earlier that year – performances which enabled him to qualify for the BDO World Darts Championship for the first time in 2006. On his television debut in the 2006 BDO World Darts Championship, he defeated number five seed Tony Eccles in the first round but lost to Shaun Greatbatch in round two. PDC career Laursen became the first Dane to play in the PDC World Darts Championship in the 2007 competition beating Colin Monk 3–0 (3–1, 3–2, 3–2) in the first round, but lost to Dennis Priestley in the second round, despite the fact that Laursen was 3–1 up and missed eight darts to win the match before losing 4–3 (2–3, 2–3, 3–2, 0–3, 3–0, 3–2, 3–1). ... Vincent Van Der Voort
Vincent van der Voort (born 18 December 1975) is a Dutch professional darts player on the PDC circuit. As of the 2012 PDC World Darts Championship, his nickname is the "Dutch Destroyer", although he used to go by "Grease Lightning". He is best known for his quick throwing style, which is how he got his temporary nickname "The Fastest Player in the World". He reached the final of the 2007 UK Open, which helped him become a well known face in the world of darts. Playing style Van der Voort is well known for his spasmodic style and machine-gun speed of play which has gained him a reputation in both the BDO and the PDC for being one of the more erratic throwers in the darting world. Simon Whitlock
Simon Whitlock (born 3 March 1969) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments, having also played in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) between 2004 and 2009. He uses the nickname The Wizard for his matches. His walk-on music is "Down Under" by Men at Work. His greatest achievements to date are winning the 2012 European Championship and 2022 World Cup of Darts for Australia with Damon Heta. Whitlock has also finished runner-up at the 2008 BDO World Darts Championship and the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship. He claimed that the prize money gained from the latter tournament which included money for the highest checkout (joint with Phil Taylor) would allow him to move over to the UK from Australia and compete on the PDC Pro Tour. The 2012 Dutch Darts Masters was the fifth of five PDC European Tour events on the 2012 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at the Van Der Valk Hotel in Nuland, Netherlands, from 26–28 October 2012. It featured a field of 64 players and £82,100 in prize money, with £15,000 going to the winner. Simon Whitlock won his first European Tour title, defeating Paul Nicholson 6–1 in the final. Mensur Suljović
Mensur Suljović (Serbian Cyrillic: Менсур Суљовић; born 5 March 1972) is an Austrian professional darts player. He plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, having previously played in the British Darts Organisation (BDO). Nicknamed The Gentle, Suljović is noted for his unorthodox throwing action and favouring double 14 as his finishing double where possible. Suljović is the number one Austrian player in the PDC and reached his first major final in 2016 at the European Championship. He went one step further in winning his first major TV title at the 2017 Champions League of Darts, defeating two-times world champion Gary Anderson on two occasions. 2012 PDC World Cup Of Darts
The 2012 Cash Converters World Cup of Darts was the second edition of the PDC World Cup of Darts which took place between 3–5 February 2012 at the Alsterdorfer Sporthalle in Hamburg, Germany. The Netherlands were the defending champions after the pair of Raymond van Barneveld and Co Stompé defeated Wales, represented by Mark Webster and Barrie Bates in the final on 5 December 2010. England (represented by Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis) won the tournament, beating Australia (represented by Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson) 4–3 in a sudden-death leg. Jann Hoffmann
Jann Hoffmann (19 July 1957 – 16 January 2023) was a Danish professional darts player who competed in the Professional Darts Corporation events. Career Hoffmann played at the BDO World Darts Championship four times. In 1990, he caused a major shock, beating former world champion Bob Anderson (darts player), Bob Anderson in the first round. He eventually lost to Cliff Lazarenko in the second round. He repeated this performance in 1993, beating Bernd Hebecker in the first round but lost to 1992 runner-up Mike Gregory (darts player), Mike Gregory. He also played in the Winmau World Masters twice, in 1990 and 1992, losing in the first round on both occasions. Hoffmann also made the final of the 1991 Dutch Open, the 1993 Swedish Open and the Finnish Open final three times. Petri Korte
Petri Korte (born 12 December 1966) is a Finnish former professional darts player who currently playing in Professional Darts Corporation events. He is known for his highly unorthodox throwing action, where he uses his non throwing hand as a guide by holding it up in front of him whilst throwing. Career Korte attempted to qualify for the 2010 BDO World Darts Championship but lost in the final round of international qualifiers to Jan Dekker. He won the Nordic Invitational Singles in 2011. Korte and Sami Sanssi lost in the 2011 BDO British Open Pairs final, 1–3, to Garry Thompson and Scott Waites. He qualified for the 2012 PDC World Darts Championship, where he beat Per Laursen 4–3 (legs) in the preliminary round. He played world number 3, James Wade, in the first round. 2012 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2012 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship was the 19th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event took place at the Alexandra Palace between 15 December 2011 and 2 January 2012. Adrian Lewis was the defending champion having won the 2011 tournament. Phil Taylor became the last remaining player to have played in every PDC World Championship, after Dennis Priestley failed to qualify. For the first time players from Malaysia, Portugal and Serbia qualified. Lewis was able to defend his title against Andy Hamilton in the final with a 7–3 win. Philip Douglas Taylor (born 13 August 1960) is an English former professional darts player, widely considered the greatest darts player of all time. Nicknamed The Power, he dominated darts for over two decades and won 214 professional tournaments, including a record 85 major titles and a record 16 World Championships. In 2015, the BBC rated Taylor among the ten greatest British sportsmen of the last 35 years. John Part
John Part (born June 29, 1966) is a Canadian former professional darts player and current commentator. Nicknamed Darth Maple, he is a three-times World Champion, having won the 1994 BDO World Darts Championship on his world championship debut, and the PDC World Championship in 2003 and 2008. Part is statistically North America's greatest darts player to date. He has the distinction of being the first non-UK player to win the World Championship, and the only non-European to date to win the PDC World Darts Championship. Christian "Ian" Perez (born 17 January 1982) is a Filipino professional darts player. Career In October 2009, Perez reached the final of the Shanghai International Darts Open, losing 10–4 to John Part. He later qualified for the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship where he defeated Denmark's Per Laursen 4–3 in the preliminary round. In the first round against Robert Thornton, Perez won the first set, but eventually lost 3–1. Perez again qualified for the PDC World Championship in 2012 after defeating Bobong Gabiana in the final of the Philippines qualifier.
