Pep Comics
''Pep Comics'' is the name of an American comic book anthology series published by the Archie Comics predecessor MLJ Magazines Inc. (commonly known as MLJ Comics) during the 1930s and 1940s period known as the Golden Age of Comic Books. The title continued under the Archie Comics imprint for a total of 411 issues until March 1987. ''Pep Comics'' was the comics title that introduced the superhero character The Shield, the first of the super-patriotic heroes with a costume based on a national flag (pre-dating Captain America by over a year), The Comet, who was the first superhero to die, and Archie Andrews, who eventually became the main focus of the company's extensive range of publications. Madam Satan (comics)
Madam Satan is a fictional character that has appeared as several iterations in Archie Comics under its various imprints. Publication history The first depiction of Madam Satan was on the cover of ''Pep Comics'' #15 (May 1941), but the character only appeared in issues #16–21 before being cancelled to make room for a humor strip featuring new character Archie Andrews in issue #22. Appearances MLJ Comics The first Madam Satan is originally named Tyra, a black-hearted woman who is engaged to a wealthy man simply for his money. When confronted by his parents, Tyra poisons their wine and drives their bodies off a cliff. However, as they are dying, they are able to tell their son what his fiancée has done. The son struggles with Tyra, who ends up falling on her own knife. He kisses her lifeless body and immediately dies. Irv Novick
Irving Novick (; April 11, 1916 – October 15, 2004) was an American comics artist who worked almost continuously from 1939 until the 1990s. Career A graduate of the National Academy of Design, Irv Novick got his start in the workshop of Harry "A" Chesler. From about 1939 to 1946, Novick was working for MLJ Comics, the company that would later be known as Archie Comics. He became the primary artist for their superhero comics, including the characters the Shield (the first patriotic superhero), Bob Phantom, the Hangman, and Steel Sterling, until MLJ cut back on these titles to focus more on their Archie comics. Robert William Montana (October 23, 1920 – January 4, 1975) was an American comic strip artist who created the original likenesses for characters published by Archie Comics and in the newspaper strip '' Archie''. Early life He was born in Stockton, California, to Roberta Pandolfini Montana and Ray Montana. Forsythe Pendleton "Jughead" Jones III is one of the fictional characters created by Bob Montana and John L. Jack Ralph Cole (December 14, 1914 – August 13, 1958) was an American cartoonist best known for creating the comedic superhero Plastic Man, and his cartoons for ''Playboy'' magazine. He was posthumously inducted into the comic book industry's Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1999. United States Military Academy
The United States Military Academy (USMA), also known metonymically as West Point or simply as Army, is a United States service academy in West Point, New York. It was originally established as a fort, since it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River with a scenic view, north of New York City.
