Penta (investment Group)
Penta is a Central Europe investment group founded in 1994 in Slovakia by Czech Marek Dospiva and Slovaks Jaroslav Haščák, Juraj Herko, Martin Kúšik and Jozef Oravkin. Today, the group actively develops companies and projects, primarily in healthcare, financial services, retail, manufacturing, real estate and media. Having grown from a local to international company, Penta operates in more than ten markets across Europe, providing more than 37,000 jobs through investee companies. In financial year 2015 Penta achieved a consolidated net profit of EUR 200 mln and increased total portfolio assets to EUR 7 bln. The name Penta is a tribute to the original five founding partners, all schoolmates during their studies in Moscow and Czechoslovakia. Slovalco
Slovalco is a large Slovak metallurgical company that produced 160,000 tonnes of aluminium and alloys per annum. In 2022, Slovalco laid off most of its 450 employees, citing high energy costs. Instead of concentrating on primary aluminium production, the company re-oriented to remelting with an expected annual output of roughly 75,000 tons. In January 2023, the company shut down the remaining 10 cells, ceasing aluminium production in the city after almost 70 years. Robert Fico
Robert Fico (; born 15 September 1964) is a Slovak politician who served as the prime minister of Slovakia from 2006 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2018 (when he resigned). He has been the first leader of the Direction – Social Democracy (SMER-SD) party since 1999. First elected to Parliament in 1992 (whilst within Czechoslovakia), he was later appointed to the Council of Europe. Digital Park
Digital Park is a complex of seven modern office buildings located in the Bratislava district Petržalka on Einsteinova Street near the highway D1 (section Viedenská cesta - Prístavný most) and the shopping center Aupark on the opposite side. The main building is connected with Aupark by a footbridge over the highway; it connects the two buildings on their second floors. Project There was also a high-rise building in the original project but it was changed after the financial group Penta had entered the project. This and other changes made the area less filled and the available space will be used for an artificial lake and a park. The construction of the park proceeded in stages.
