Pennsylvania's Congressional Districts
After the 2000 census, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was divided into 19 congressional districts, decreasing from 21 due to reapportionment. After the 2010 census, the number of districts decreased again to 18. In the 2022 midterms, per the 2020 United States census, Pennsylvania lost one congressional seat, bringing the delegation's number to 17 districts. On January 22, 2018, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled in ''League of Women Voters v. Commonwealth'' that the congressional districts were an unlawful partisan gerrymander in violation of the Pennsylvania Constitution. The General Assembly and governor failed to reach an agreement for a revised district map. Therefore, on February 19, 2018, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court released a new congressional map. The Cook Partisan Voting Index, abbreviated Cook PVI, CPVI, or PVI, is a measurement of how strongly a List of United States congressional districts, United States congressional district or U.S. state leans toward the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic or Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, compared to the nation as a whole, based on how that district or state voted in the previous two presidential elections. Bala Cynwyd ( ) is a community in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania. It is located on the Philadelphia Main Line in Southeastern Pennsylvania, bordering the western edge of Philadelphia at U.S. Route 1 (City Avenue). It was originally two separate towns, Bala and Cynwyd, but is commonly treated as a single community. This came about when a single U.S. Post Office served both towns (the Bala Cynwyd branch) using ZIP Code 19004. The community was long known as hyphenated Bala-Cynwyd. Madeleine Dean Cunnane (born June 6, 1959) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district. The district includes almost all of Montgomery County, a suburban county north of Philadelphia. Before being elected to Congress, Dean was a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, representing the 153rd district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Dwight Evans (born May 16, 1954) is an American politician of the Democratic Party serving as the U.S representative for Pennsylvania's 3rd congressional district since 2019. The district, numbered as the 2nd district during his first term, includes most of Center City, West, and Northwest Philadelphia.
