Pedro Masip (October 8, 1918 – ?) was a Spanish tennis player who competed in the early postwar years. As a teenager he won his first Spanish National Championship in singles in 1936, and then six successive times after World War II from 1945 to 1950, in addition to five doubles and three mixed national titles. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Portuguese International Championships
The Portuguese International Championships was a combined men's and women's clay court tennis tournament. It was held for the first time in 1901 in Cascais. When it was active, the tournament was Portugal's most prestigious tennis competition. The Italian Riviera Championships also known as the San Remo International was a combined men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1903 at San Remo, Liguria, Northern Italy. The tournament was staged at the Tennis Club Sanremo (f.1897) until 1964, and was part of the Italian Riviera circuit of tennis tournaments. History The Italian Riviera Championships (San Remo) were established in 1903. The championships were on regularly occasions the opening event at the start of the Italian clay court season. The French Covered Court Championships its original name also known as the French Covered Court Open Championships and the French Indoors was a tennis event held from 1895 through 1971 in Paris, France and Lyon, France. British Hard Court Championships
The British Hard Court Championships is a defunct Grand Prix tennis and WTA Tour affiliated tennis tournament played from 1968 to 1983 and 1995 to 1999. The inaugural edition of the tournament was held in 1924 in Torquay, moving to the West Hants Tennis Club in Bournemouth, England in 1927 and was held there until 1983. The 1977 and 1979 editions were cancelled due to lack of sponsorship. In 1995 the event was revived at Bournemouth as a women's WTA tournament but was only played there that year. The women's final edition in 1996 was held in Cardiff, Wales. The tournament was played on outdoor clay courts. Bournemouth was one of the world's major tournaments, second only to Wimbledon in England and on the same level as Monte Carlo, Rome and Hamburg. Henri Cochet
Henri Jean Cochet (; 14 December 1901 – 1 April 1987) was a French tennis player. He was a world No. 1 ranked player, and a member of the famous " Four Musketeers" from France who dominated tennis in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Born in Villeurbanne, Rhône, Cochet won a total 22 Majors including seven Grand Slam singles, five doubles and three mixed doubles. In addition he won three singles, two doubles and one mixed doubles ILTF majors. He also won one professional Major in singles. During his major career he won singles and doubles titles on three different surfaces: clay, grass and wood. He was ranked as world No. 1 player for four consecutive years, 1928 through 1931 by A. Wallis Myers. Cochet turned professional in 1933, but after a less than stellar pro career he was reinstated as an amateur after the end of World War II in 1945. Felicisimo Ampon (October 27, 1920 – October 7, 1997) was a tennis player from the Philippines. He is considered to be the greatest Filipino tennis player in history, and at only 5 foot 3 inches tall, though closer to 4 ft 11, was once considered the best tennis player in the world, pound for pound.
