Payan Rafat
Payan Rafat ( fa, پایان رأفت, born September 9, 1970 in Astara, Iran) is a retired Iranian footballer and current coach. He served his golden days in Persepolis. His style of play was similar to Iranian football legend Ali Daei. He is considered one of the most memorable players in history of Tehran derby, the rivalry between Persepolis and Esteghlal; as he received a punch from rival goalkeeper Parviz Boroumand in the famous derby played in 2000. Club career After playing 6 seasons in Malavan, he joined Persepolis. He later left for a half season at the UAE League's Hatta Club Hatta Club is a sports club based in Hatta in the Emirate of Dubai, UAE, founded in 1981. Astara, Iran
Astara (; fa, آستارا, also romanized as Āstārā) is a city and capital of Astara County, Gilan Province, Iran. It lies on the border with Azerbaijan Republic and on the Caspian Sea. Parviz Boroumand
Parviz Boroumand Sharif ( fa, پرویز برومند شریف , born 30 May 1974, in Tehran) is an Iranian football goalkeeper who currently is head coach of Dore 98 F.C. in Iran 2nd division League. Club career Broumand previously played for IPL sides Esteghlal and Rah Ahan. Broumand was also formerly an Iranian national team player who was reserve goalkeeper in the 1998 FIFA World Cup squad. His most memorable performance was for Esteghlal FC against Persepolis FC in 2001 when he struck a Persepolis player Payan Rafat in the face starting one of the largest fights in the history of the rivalry. After this game Broumand and several players from both sides were handed suspensions, his being the largest at 18 months was eventually shortened. The Persian Gulf Pro League ( fa, لیگ برتر خلیج فارس, ''Lig-e Bartar-e Xalij-e Fârs''), formerly known as the Iran Pro League ( fa, links=no, لیگ برتر ایران, ''Lig-e bartar-e Irân''), is the highest division of professional football in Iran. Azadegan League
The Azadegan League ( fa, ليگ آزادگان, ''Lig-e Âzâdegân''), also known as League 1 ( fa, لیگ یک, ''Lig-e Yek''), is the second highest division of professional football in Iran. It was the top-level football league in Iran from its foundation in 1991 until 2001, when the Persian Gulf Pro League was established. Each year, the top finishing teams in the Azadegan League are promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to League 2. The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in some countries/territories in Asia and Oceania.
