Pawankhind (film)
''Pawankhind'' is a 2022 Indian Marathi-language historical action drama film directed by Digpal Lanjekar and produced under the banner of Almonds Creations in association with A A Films. The film based on the life of Maratha warrior, Baji Prabhu Deshpande, stars Chinmay Mandlekar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Ajay Purkar, Sameer Dharmadhikari, along with Ankit Mohan, Prajakta Mali and Kshitee Jog in supporting roles. It is the third entry in an eight-film series on the Maratha Empire. After ''Farzand'' and ''Fatteshikast'', Digpal Lanjekar announced this third film on unsung Maratha heroes. It was followed by ''Sher Shivraj''. The film was a huge commercial success with film become the third highest-grossing Marathi film of all time and the highest-grossing Marathi film of 2022. Chinmay Mandlekar
Chinmay Mandlekar (born 2 February 1979) is an Indian actor, writer and stage director, mostly active in the Marathi entertainment industry. He is known for his work in Zenda, Morya, ''Farzand'' (2018), ''Fatteshikast'' (2019), ''The Kashmir Files'' (2022) and ''Pawankhind'' (2022). He has also completed many episodes of a crime series ( Crime Patrol) as SI Rajesh Jadhav. Biography A graduate of the National School of Drama, Mandlekar has written, directed or acted in successful plays such as ''Bechaki'' and ''Sukhanshi Bhandto Aamhi''. In films, Mandlekar is active as an actor and a writer, having starred in Marathi movies like '' Zenda'', '' Morya'' or ''Gajaar: Journey of the Soul''. Sambhaji Maharaj
Sambhaji Bhosale (14 May 1657 – 11 March 1689) was the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, ruling from 1681 to 1689. He was the eldest son of Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Empire. Sambhaji's rule was largely shaped by the ongoing wars between the Maratha Empire and the Mughal Empire, as well as other neighbouring powers such as the Siddis, Mysore and the Portuguese in Goa. Battle Of Pavan Khind
Battle of Pävankhind was a rearguard last stand that took place on 13 July 1660, at a mountain pass in the vicinity of fort Vishalgad, near the city of Kolhapur with the Maratha warrior Baji Prabhu Deshpande and Sambhu Singh Jadhav against Siddi Masud of the Bijapur Sultanate. The engagement ended with the destruction of the Maratha forces, and a tactical victory for the Bijapur Sultanate, but failing to achieve a strategic victory. Siddi Masud
Siddi Masud or Siddi Masood was a general in the Adilshahi sultanate and he was the son-in-law of famous general Siddi Jauhar. He went on to become the Wazir of Bijapur Sultanate during Sikandar Adil Shah's reign. Early life and Siege of Panhala Not much is known about his early life. He was the son in law of Siddi Jauhar.
