Paulette Reck (born c. 1948) is a former pageant titleholder from Baltimore, Maryland who has competed in the Miss USA pageant. Reck is a graduate of Mercy High School and Villa Julie College, in Stevenson, Maryland. She held the Miss Maryland USA title 1968 and placed 1st runner up to Dorothy Anstett at Miss USA 1968. Miss USA
Miss USA is an American beauty pageant that has been held annually since 1952 to select the entrant from United States in the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss Universe Organization operated both pageants, as well as Miss Teen USA, until 2020, when the organization announced it was licensing operation of the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants to Crystle Stewart, Miss USA for 2008. The pageant was owned by Donald Trump from 1996 to 2015 and was previously broadcast on NBC. In September 2015, WME/IMG purchased the pageant from Trump. Stevenson is an unincorporated community located in the Green Spring Valley in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. From 1830 until 1955, this community was served by the Green Spring Valley Branch of the old Northern Central Railway (later part of the Pennsylvania Railroad). Primarily a residential area, it is the site of the main campus of Stevenson University (formerly Villa Julie College), which also has a campus in Owings Mills. Miss Maryland USA
The Miss Maryland USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Maryland in the Miss USA pageant. The pageant is directed by D&D Productions. The first Miss USA winner from Maryland, Mary Leona Gage, won Miss USA 1957. However, she was later discovered to be a mother of two sons and was therefore dethroned. In 2012, Nana Meriwether placed 1st runner-up, but became Miss USA 2012 when Olivia Culpo won Miss Universe 2012. Six Maryland titleholders are former Miss Maryland Teen USAs. These four all reigned in the early 1990s, and in fact four out of six titleholders from 1990 to 1995 were former teens. Only four Miss Maryland USA has competed at Miss America. Dorothy Catherine Anstett (born June 28, 1947) is an American pageant titleholder who held the Miss USA 1968 title. Anstett competed in the Miss Washington pageant in July 1967 and placed first runner-up. In April of the following year she won the Miss Washington USA 1968 crown title. She won the Miss USA 1968 title on May 18, 1968, and represented the United States at Miss Universe 1968 in July, where she placed fourth runner-up. Anstett, one of nine children of an aircraft plant worker, was an English major at the University of Washington at the time of her win. Miss World USA 1969
Miss World USA 1969 was the 8th edition of the Miss World USA pageant and it was held in the Baltimore Civic Center in Baltimore, Maryland and was won by Gail Renshaw of Virginia. She was crowned by outgoing titleholder, Johnine Leigh Avery of Washington. Renshaw went on to represent the United States at the Miss World 1969 Pageant in London later that year. She finished as 1st Runner-Up at Miss World. After competing at Miss World, Renshaw resigned her title to get married. Renshaw was replaced by Connie Lee Haggard of Texas who was the 1st Runner-Up of Miss World USA. This edition was also the first edition where cities were no longer represented.
