Paul Wettlaufer
Paul Wettlaufer (born January 28, 1978) is a Canadian field hockey player. Wettlaufer earned his first international cap for the Men's National Team in 1998 against Spain in Barcelona. Paul grew up in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, where he attended Handsworth Secondary School (1991–1996) and played field hockey for the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club. 1998 Commonwealth Games
The 1998 Commonwealth Games ''(Malay: Sukan Komanwel 1998)'', officially known as the XVI Commonwealth Games ''(Malay: Sukan Komanwel ke-16)'', was a multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This edition is marked by several unprecedented facts in the history of the event. The 1998 games were the first held in an Asian country and the last Commonwealth Games of the 20th century. This was also the first time the games took place in a nation with a head of state other than the Head of the Commonwealth, and the first time the games were held in a country whose majority of the population did not have English as the first language. Field Hockey At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics was the 21st edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held over a thirteen-day period beginning on 11 August, and culminating with the medal finals on 23 August. All games were played at the hockey field constructed on the Olympic Green in Beijing, China. Germany won the gold medal for the third time after defeating Spain 1–0 in the final. Defending champions Australia won the bronze medal by defeating Netherlands 6–2. This was the only edition India has missed out in its Olympic history. 2006 Men's Hockey World Cup Qualifier
The 2006 Men's Intercontinental Cup was a qualifier for the 2006 Men's Hockey World Cup. It was held between 12 and 23 April 2006 in Changzhou, China. New Zealand won the tournament after defeating Korea 4–1 in the final. Alongside England, Pakistan and Japan, these five teams qualified for the World Cup. Qualification All five confederations received quotas for teams to participate allocated by the International Hockey Federation based upon the FIH World Rankings. The 2006 Commonwealth Games, officially the XVIII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Melbourne 2006 (Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm 2006'' or ''Naarm 2006''), was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth held in Melbourne, Australia between 15 and 26 March 2006.
