Paul Manta
Paul Manta, (born in Bucharest, 2 June 1943), is a Romanian former football goalkeeper, who played for Sportul Studenţesc, Universitatea Craiova and Progresul București. Football career Early career Manta was born in the Cotroceni residential area of Bucharest. Firstly he was interested in athletics (high jump and pole-vault) and he trained in the stadium located in Dr. Staicovici Street. One day, the students from the Institute of Physical Education and Sports did not have a goalkeeper and turned to him. Coach Cornel Dragusin noticed his skillfulness, proposing him to join the youth team Progresul-București in the group where I. Kluge was (he was 14 at that time) and he never gave up the ball since then. The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. Gabriel Raksi (1 November 1938 – 12 April 2002) was a Romanian international football player. Career He made his first steps in the football career ever since 1951, joining the team Metalul Oradea (coached by Al. Pop). The next team he joined was Industria Sârmei Câmpia Turzii, reaching in 1959 to CCA București, after his enrollment. Gheorghe Popescu I, the coach of CCA București team immediately introduced him in the Romanian great team, making his debut on the Republic Stadium, during the game with Progresul București (n.r. 2-1); Gheorghe Popescu I's team comprised the following players: Voinescu, Zavoda II, Apolzan, Ivănescu, Jenei, Bone, Cacoveanu, Raksi, Alecsandrescu, Zavoda I, Tătaru. Raksi remained at Steaua (the designation that Steaua București took in 1962) until 1967.
