Patna Golf Club
The Patna Golf Club was established on 21 March 1916. The land originally belonged to the government of Bihar and Orissa, and was leased to the South Bihar Gymkhana Club. The club was formed by Steuart Bayley, among others, who later became the Governor of Bihar Bihar (; ) is a state in eastern India. Patna ( ), historically known as Pataliputra, is the capital and largest city of the state of Bihar in India. Bihar and Orissa was a province of British India, which included the present-day Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Sir Steuart Colvin Bayley (26 November 1836 – 3 June 1925) was a British civil servant and List of governors of Bengal Presidency#Lieutenant Governors of the Bengal Presidency (1854–1912), Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal from 1887 to 1890. Early life He was the son of William Butterworth Bayley, who rose to be acting Governor-General of India, and Anne Augusta Jackson. His middle name is a reference to the well-connected Colvin family of Anglo-Indian administrators, just as John Russell Colvin named Auckland Colvin, his son after his boss, George Eden, 1st Earl of Auckland.
