Pat Buckley (Cork Hurler)
Patrick Buckley (born 17 September 1965) is an Irish former hurler who played as a midfielder for the Cork senior team. Born in Milford, County Cork, Buckley first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1989 championship. Buckley immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Buckley won one Railway Cup medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level Buckley played with Milford. Throughout his career Buckley made 16 championship appearances. His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1995 championship. Galway GAA
The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae na Gaillimhe) or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Galway is one of the few dual counties in Ireland, competing in a similar level in both hurling and football codes. Michael Phelan (hurler)
Michael Phelan (born 3 August 1967) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. At club level he played with Glenmore and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out at midfield. Career Phelan first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Glenmore club before eventually joining the club's top adult team. He won a total of five County Senior Championship titles with the club and was at centre-forward for the All-Ireland Club Championship success in 1991. Phelan first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Kilkenny under-21 team that suffered All-Ireland final defeat by Cork in 1988. This success saw him drafted on to the Kilkenny senior hurling team in 1989. John Power (John Locke's Hurler)
John Fintan Power (born 17 February 1966) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with John Locke's and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a forward. Career Power first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the John Locke's club while simultaneously lining out with the Callan CBS team that lost consecutive All-Ireland finals in 1982 and 1983. He enjoyed his first success at adult club level in 1993 when John Locke's won the County Intermediate Championship before claiming a second title in 1999. Power first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Kilkenny minor team that lost the All-Ireland final to Limerick in 1984, before losing the All-Ireland under-21 final to Tipperary the following year. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year except one since 1887. Martin Naughton (hurler)
Martin Naughton (born 1964) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played senior hurling with his local club Turloughmore and with the Galway senior inter-county team in the 1980s and 1990s. Early life Martin Naughton was born in Turloughmore, County Galway in 1964. He was educated locally at Cregmore national school where he was first introduced to the game of hurling. Naughton later attended the Presentation College in Athenry where he won a county school's medal. He later worked in the marketing department of a local oil company. Playing career Club Naughton played his club hurling with his local Turloughmore club and enjoyed much success. He won a county minor title in the early 1980s before later joining the county senior side. Naughton won his sole senior county title in 1985. This was later converted into a Connacht club title.
