Parkside Hawks
Parkside Hawks was a rugby league team based in Hunslet, Leeds. They played in the Rugby League Conference Yorkshire Premier, Yorkshire division of the Rugby League Conference. History Parkside Hawks were formed in 2009 as a joint venture between Hunslet Parkside and Hunslet R.L.F.C., Hunslet Hawks. Players were drawn from the Hawks under-18 side as well as from surrounding winter clubs such as Hunslet Old Boys, Hunslet Warriors, Queens, Milford, and East Leeds. Hawks joined the Midlands Merit League, a feeder competition for the Rugby League Conference, but were moved up to the RLC North Midlands division after 1 game. They went on to win the 2009 RLC North Midlands title. The club were in the newly formed Yorkshire division for the 2010 season and went on to win it before making it to the RLC regional finals where they lost to Northampton Demons. South Leeds Stadium
The John Charles Centre for Sport is a sports facility in South Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It consists of the South Leeds Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Indoor Athletics Centre and Tennis Centre. It was previously named the South Leeds Stadium (although the actual stadium is still known by this name) and was renamed to honour John Charles (1931–2004), the former Leeds United F.C., Leeds United, Juventus F.C., Juventus and Wales national football team, Wales footballer. Rugby League Conference
The Rugby League Conference (RLC) (also known as the Co-operative Rugby League Conference as a result of sponsorship from The Co-operative Group), was a series of regionally based divisions of amateur rugby league teams spread throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The RLC was founded as the 10-team Southern Conference League in 1997, with teams from the southern midlands and the south east, but has subsequently, rebranded and expanded both geographically and numerically to include around 90 teams stretched across almost the whole of Great Britain from Aberdeen in northern Scotland down to Plymouth on the south coast of England. The aim of the RLC was initially to provide regular fixtures for new clubs based outside the 'heartland' of rugby league, although as the playing standards increased, it also accepted teams from the 'heartlands'. Harry Jepson Trophy
The Harry Jepson Trophy is a rugby league competition contested by teams from successor leagues to the Rugby League Conference. It is named after Harry Jepson. History The Harry Jepson trophy was first contested in 1997 by members of the then Southern Conference. The conference was renamed the Rugby League Conference in 1998 and it began to expand from its initial base in the South of England and the Midlands. The winners of the various regional divisions would enter a play-off system culminating in a Grand Final for the trophy. In 2005, the Conference changed structure with the formation of Premier Divisions for the stronger teams, the Harry Jepson trophy was then competed for by the winners of the Premier divisions with the regional division winners playing-off for the RLC Regional trophy. Hunslet () is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is southeast of the Leeds city centre, city centre and has an industrial past. The Rugby League Conference Yorkshire Premier is a division in the Rugby League Conference for teams in the Yorkshire area. It was first contested in 2008 following the break-up of the previous North Premier into the North West and Yorkshire Premiers. History The Rugby League Conference was born in 1997 as the Southern Conference, a 10-team pilot league for teams in the South of England and English Midlands. Rotherham Giants became the first Yorkshire-based team to join when they entered the Northern division in 2000. Other teams followed playing in the North East and North Midlands divisions until a Yorkshire division was created in 2004. The Midlands Merit League, was a summer rugby league tournament in England held between 2006 and 2009. It was a feeder league to the Rugby League Conference and had a season that ran from April to August. In its last season of 2009, it was also known as the RL Merit League. It was superseded by the Midlands Rugby League, Yorkshire & Humber Merit League and North West Merit League. Northampton Demons is a rugby league club based in Duston, Northampton. They play in the RFL Midlands Rugby League Men's South Division. History Background - Nene Valley and Northampton Knights ''Nene Valley'' were set up in 1989 and they trained twice weekly at Rushden Sports Centre.
