Paradigm Concepts
Paradigm Concepts, Inc. is a small-press game publishing company located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They published the award-winning Arcanis campaign setting and managed the Living Arcanis campaign independent of the RPGA. Previously Arcanis operated as a d20 system campaign setting using the rules of Dungeons and Dragons. Arcanis is now featured in Arcanis the Roleplaying Game, being released summer 2011 and the Legends of Arcanis campaign - inheritor of the Living Arcanis history. They previously published the self-developed Witch Hunter: The Invisible World game-line. The company was founded by Henry Lopez, Nelson Rodriguez, and Eric Wiener in 2000. Paradigm Concepts Inc. also produces Spycraft, d20 System, Legend of the Five Rings and True 20 books under license. The company won the 2005 ENnie award for Fans' Choice Best Publisher. Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Fort Lauderdale () is a coastal city located in the U.S. state of Florida, north of Miami along the Atlantic Ocean. ''True20'' is a role-playing game system designed by Steve Kenson and published by Green Ronin Publishing. The system was first published as a part of the ''Blue Rose (RPG), Blue Rose'' Role-playing game, RPG before being published as a standalone universal generic role-playing game, True20 Adventure Roleplaying. History The True20 system was originally used in Green Ronin's ''Blue Rose (RPG), Blue Rose'', itself based on their ''Mutants & Masterminds'' RPG. Later that year, Green Ronin released a PDF distillation of the ''Blue Rose'' rules, with an appendix of some modern-era rules, as a generic form of the game. The ENNIE Awards (previously stylized as ENnie Awards) are awards for role-playing game (RPG) products (including game-related accessories, publications, and art) and their creators. The awards were created in 2001 by Russ Morrissey of EN World in partnership with Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D Third Edition News. The ceremony has been hosted at Gen Con in Indianapolis since 2002. Since 2018, EN World is no longer associated with the awards. The ENNIES comprise two rounds. In the first round, publishers submit their products for nomination. Entries are judged by five democratically elected judges. The nominated products are voted on by the public in the second round. Winners of the annual awards are then announced at a ceremony at Gen Con. History The award ceremony initially focused on the '' d20 System'' products and publishers. Arcanis RPG
Arcanis was originally a campaign setting for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' game, created by Henry Lopez and supported by Paradigm Concepts. It is also the name of the fictional world where the setting takes place. The setting was launched in 2001 and is known for its odd twists on the fantasy genre, as well as its wide member approval and community-based design and construction. Unlike many other fantasy roleplaying games, which focus primarily on tactical combat, the Arcanis campaigns focus on moral ambiguity and politics. While originally launched as a d20srd title, Arcanis was relaunched in 2011 with a unique rules set as detailed in Paradigm Concepts. This system uses a similar initiative system to '' Feng Shui''; a progressive clock system of initiative, with each action taking a specific number of 'ticks' of a clock rather than simply having everyone go in a predetermined order. Role Playing Game
A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making regarding character development. Origins Game Fair
Origins Game Fair is an annual gaming convention that was first held in 1975. Since 1996, it has been held in Columbus, Ohio at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Origins is run by The Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA). Origins was chartered to serve gaming in general, including wargaming and miniatures gaming. Origins is the site of the annual Origins Awards ceremony. For many years, the Charles S. Roberts Awards for historical boardgames were presented at Origins, but these are now presented at the World Boardgaming Championships. Board games, trading card games, LARPs and role-playing games are also popular at Origins. Origins Game Fair was formerly known as the Origins International Game Expo. The name was changed in the summer of 2007. Legend Of The Five Rings
Legend of the Five Rings (often abbreviated ''L5R'') is a fictional setting created by John Zinser, Dave Seay, Ryan Dancey, Dave Williams, DJ Trindle, Matt Wilson and John Wick and first published by a joint venture between Alderac Entertainment Group and ISOMEDIA in 1995. The setting primarily involves the fictional empire of Rokugan, though some additional areas and cultures have been discussed. Rokugan is based roughly on feudal Japan with influences from other East Asian cultures such as China, Mongolia and Korea.
