Papa Gueye (born 7 June 1984) is a Senegalese former professional footballer who played as a centre-back and current vice-president of Metalist Kharkiv. Career Born in Dakar, Senegal, Gueye grew up in a family of school director (father) and a teacher (mother). He started playing football at 6 years old, attending a football club at school. In 1999, he enrolled in the school football club AS Douanes (Senegal). Metalist Kharkiv In 2006 Gueye moved from Volyn Lutsk to Metalist Kharkiv where he played as a central defender and a defensive midfielder. After more than 10 years in Kharkiv he signed a contract with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. Rostov On 31 August 2016, Gueye signed for Russian Premier League side FC Rostov. Dakar
Dakar ( ; ; wo, Ndakaaru) (from daqaar ''tamarind''), is the capital and largest city of Senegal. AS Douanes is a Senegalese professional football club based in Dakar. The current chairman as of 2016 is Alassane Ndione. Douanes also has the third most number of major honours won in Senegal numbering 14, they 6 championship and cup titles, a super cup and a league cup. The club plays at Stade Demba Diop, sometimes they play at Stade Alassane Djigo. History The club was founded in 1980. Not long after the foundation, as they were only three tiers at the time, the club went to Division 1 in 1984 and participated there. The 2008–09 Ukrainian Premier League season was the eighteenth since its establishment. The league was restructured and split off from the Professional Football League of Ukraine. It was officially named as the ''EpiCentre Championship of Ukraine in football''. Shakhtar Donetsk were the defending champions of the past season, having won their fourth league title. The season began on 16 July 2008 with a scoreless draw between Tavriya Simferopol and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. The last round of matches were played on 26 May 2009. The Ukraine national football team ( uk, Збірна України з футболу) represents Ukraine in men's international football and is governed by the Ukrainian Association of Football, the governing body for football in Ukraine.
