2009–10 Ukrainian Premier League
The 2009–10 Ukrainian Premier League season was the nineteenth since its establishment and second since its reorganization. Dynamo Kyiv were the defending champions, having won their 13th league title. A total of 16 teams participated in the league, 14 of which participated in the 2008–09 season, and two of which were promoted from the Ukrainian First League. The season began on 17 July 2009. The winter break in the season was from 13 December 2009 until 28 February 2010. The last round of the season was played on 9 May 2010. On 5 May 2010, Shakhtar Donetsk regained the title after a 1–0 win against rivals Dynamo Kyiv. The Ukrainian Premier League ( ) or UPL is a professional association football league in Ukraine and the highest level of the Ukrainian football league system. FC Metalurh Donetsk
Football Club Metalurh Donetsk (, ) was a Ukrainian professional football club based in Donetsk that went bankrupt in July 2015. History Club predecessor Football came to the Donetsk region in the time of the Russian Empire when the industrialization of the country began. Numerous foreigners, particularly British workers, were forming their own football teams. In September 1911, at the factory of ''Novorossiysk Association'' (currently the Donetsk Steel Works Factory – DMZ) owned by John Hughes has created the Yuzovka Sports Society (YuSO) which contained a football club as well. The football club became one of the founders of the Donbas football league based out of Kramatorsk in 1913. The football team existed until 1919 and was liquidated due to the Russian Civil War. Vyacheslav Hrozny
Vyacheslav Viktorovych Hrozny (; born 12 July 1956) is a Ukrainian football player and manager. Career He is a holder of the 1980 KFK Cup of the Ukrainian SSR as a player of FC Nyva Ternopil when it used to play in Pidhaitsi. Hrozny is a graduate of the Lutsk Pedagogical Institute and the Higher School of Coaches in Moscow. Since the late 1980s coached number of clubs in post-Soviet countries. Until his appointment with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the mid-1990s, Hrozny coached as an assistant to a head coach. In 1997, he was suspended from coaching in Ukraine and moved abroad. Hrozny returned in 2002 after being appointed as a coach of the newly formed club Arsenal Kyiv. But he did not stay in Ukraine for too long and in 2008 Hrozny left again to coach Terek Grozny and FC Tobol. On 30 December 2019, Hroznyi was announced as the new manager of Shakhter Karagandy. Vitaliy Hryhorovych Reva (; born 19 November 1974) is a Ukrainian former professional football player. He is also the goalkeeping coach of Ukraine national under-21 football team. FC Zorya Luhansk
FC Zorya Luhansk ( ) is a Ukrainian football team. Zorya Luhansk was based in the city of Luhansk, Ukraine. However, due to the Russo-Ukrainian War, the team currently plays its games at Slavutych-Arena in Zaporizhzhia. The modern club as a team of masters was established on 10 April 1964 by the Football Federation of the Soviet Union merging the October Revolution Plant ( Luhanskteplovoz) sports club Zorya and the Luhansk regional branch of the " Trudovye Rezervy" sports society. In 1972, as Zaria Voroshilovgrad, the club became the first provincial Soviet club to win the Soviet Top League title. Football Club Mariupol ( ) was a Ukrainian professional football club based in Mariupol, that competed in the Ukrainian Premier League. The club ceased to exist as a result of the Siege of Mariupol, during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Borispil
Boryspil (, ) is a city and the administrative center of Boryspil Raion in Kyiv Oblast (region) in northern and central Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Boryspil urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The population was estimated as Name Official sources state that the city is named after Prince Boris, of Boris and Gleb, two sons of Vladimir the Great, who were both murdered during the internecine wars of 1015–1019. According to Petro Tronko in his History of cities and villages in Ukrainian SSR, the locality where Boryspil is located was named as "Borysove pole" (Borys's field) when in 1015 a son of Vladimir the Great Borys returning from another raid against Pechenegs died from hands of hired assassins. FC Obolon Kyiv
FC Obolon Kyiv (, ) is a Ukrainian professional football club based in Kyiv (Obolonskyi District). Its home colors are green shirts and white shorts; while its away uniforms are white shirts and green shorts. Its main sponsor was the brewery Obolon in 1999–2013. Since 2013, the club is owned by the factory. The club was reformed in 2013 due to administrative issues and hence the team withdrew from the Professional Football League of Ukraine during the 2012–13 Ukrainian First League season in February 2013.
