Palatine Northern Railway Company
The Palatine Northern Railways Company (''Gesellschaft der Pfälzischen Nordbahnen'') – abbreviated to Palatine Northern Railway (''Pfälzer Nordbahn'') - was founded on 17 April 1866 as the last of the three major private railway companies in the Bavarian province of the Palatinate. From the outset it left the management and running of its railways to the Palatine Ludwigsbahn. Because the Ludwigsbahn company and the Palatine Maximilian Railway had already built their railway networks in central and southern Palatinate, the Palatine Northern Railway was only left with the region north of the line Ludwigshafen–Kaiserslautern– Homburg for its area of operations. Palatinate (region)
The Palatinate (german: Pfalz; Palatine German: ''Palz'') is a region of Germany. In the Middle Ages it was known as the Rhenish Palatinate (''Rheinpfalz'') and Lower Palatinate (''Unterpfalz''), which strictly speaking designated only the western part of the Electorate of the Palatinate (''Kurfürstentum Pfalz''), as opposed to the Upper Palatinate (''Oberpfalz''). Alsenz
Alsenz () is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Alsenz has an area of 12.88 km2 and a population of 1,647 (as of December 31, 2020). Culture and sights In the centre of the village is the Renaissance village hall (''Rathaus''), built in 1578. Frankenthal Central Station
Frankenthal Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station for the city of Frankenthal in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is located on the Mainz–Ludwigshafen railway. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a German railway station categories, category 3 station. Kindenheim
Kindenheim is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography Location The municipality lies in the northwest of the Rhine-Neckar urban agglomeration and is a winegrowing centre in the Palatinate near the north end of the German Wine Route. Grünstadt station is a railway junction where the Palatine Northern Railway connects with the Eis Valley Railway and the disused tracks of the Leiningen Valley Railway and the Worms–Grünstadt railway. Bad Dürkheim Station
Bad Dürkheim station is a terminal station in Bad Dürkheim in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is on the Palatinate Northern Railway between Neustadt an der Weinstraße and Monsheim. Palatine Northern Railway
The Palatine Northern Railway (german: Pfälzische Nordbahn) is a non-electrified single-track main line that connects Neustadt (Weinstr) Hbf with Monsheim in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It was opened between 1865 and 1873 in three stages. With the replacement of the old Ludwigshafen terminus with the modern Ludwigshafen Hauptbahnhof through station in 1969, Bad Dürkheim station became the only station in the form of a terminus in the Palatinate region. Passenger services over the Grünstadt–Monsheim section were discontinued in 1984, but re-established in 1995. The name of the line comes from the Palatine Northern Railway Company (''Gesellschaft der Pfälzischen Nordbahnen''), which acquired the line as its main line in 1870. Monsheim Station
Monsheim station is in the municipality of Monsheim in the Alzey-Worms district of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is at the junction of the Rheinhessen Railway, the Palatine Northern Railway and the Zeller Valley Railway. The station’s entrance building is protected as a monument. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. History The first Monsheim station was opened in 1864 simultaneously with the section of the Rheinhessen Railway from Worms.
