Palaio Faliro B.C. (alternate spelling: Paleo Falirou) (Greek: Παλαιού Φαλήρου) is a Greek professional basketball club. The team is located in Palaio Faliro, Athens, Greece. The club has competed in the Greek Second Division. The club's full name is Athlitikos Omilos Palaio Falirou (Αθλητικός Όμιλος Παλαιού Φαλήρου), which is abbreviated as A.O.P.F. (Α.O.Π.Φ.). History Palaio Faliro's parent athletic sports club was founded in 1926, with the athletic union's first sporting department being the football club. In 1928, the athletic union added the track and field section, and in 1929, it added swimming and volleyball sections. The basketball club was added in 1931, after the athletic union decided to abandon the football club, in favor of a basketball department. The Greek A2 Basket League ( el, Ελληνική Α2 Μπάσκετ Λιγκ, link=no), is a professional basketball league in Greece. It is the 2nd-tier level of pro competition, among clubs in the country. The Greek basketball league system is a number of interconnected competitions for professional basketball clubs in Greece. The system has a hierarchical format with a promotion and relegation system between competitions at different levels. There are several different competitions in the system. The highest level competitions are the nationwide competitions: the Greek Basket League, the Greek A2 Basket League, the Greek B Basket League, and the Greek C Basket League. The Greek women's Basketball League, also known as A1 Ethniki (A1 National) Women's Basketball is the most important competition of Greek women's professional basketball. It is organised by the EOK (Hellenic Basketball Federation). It began with the 1967–68 season. The first championship of the league, which was held in the 1967–68 season, was organised by ΕΟΑΠ (Greek: ''Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Αθλοπαιδιών''). Alimos ( el, Άλιμος) is a south district of Athens and a municipality in South Athens regional unit, Greece. It was formed in 1968 comprising two settlements, the suburban seaside town of Kalamaki ( el, Καλαμάκι), and the inland community of Trachones ( el, Τράχωνες). Alimos had 41,720 inhabitants in the 2011 census. Geography Alimos is situated on the Saronic Gulf coast, 8 km south of Athens city centre along the Athens coast.
