Padang Serai
Padang Serai or lemongrass field, a little town in Kulim District, Kedah, Malaysia. The sleepy hollow, surrounded by oil palm plantations and the nearby Kulim High-tech Industrial Zone has 56 percent Malay, 23 percent Indians and 12 percent Chinese voters. There are few villages such as Kampong Guar Lobak, Kg Terat Batu, Kg Teluk Binu, Kg Sidam Kiri, Kg Sidam Kanan, Kg Sentosa, Permatang Durian and some estates like Ladang Bukit Selarong, Ladang Henrietta, Ladang Nagalilit. Labu Besar is 20 km away. Padang Serai is famous with its "Pekan Ahad" or Sunday's Market. Padang Serai is a fast expanding town with the mushrooming of many new housing estates. For smallholders or planters, there is one Aik Hwa shop supplies fertilisers, herbicide and the fishing gear. Padang Serai is also a parliamentary constituency. The seat was held formerly by N. Kulim District
The Kulim District is a district and town in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. It is located on the southeast of Kedah, bordering Penang. Kedah

Keadilan
The People's Justice Party ( ms, Parti Keadilan Rakyat , often known simply as KEADILAN or PKR) is a reformist political party in Malaysia, formed in 2003 by a merger of the National Justice Party and the older Malaysian People's Party. The party was led by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and increased its parliamentary representation from one seat to 31 seats in the 2008 general election, until the five-year political ban imposed on former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was lifted on 14 April 2008. Karuppaiya Muthusamy
Karupaiya s/o Muthusami ( ta, கருப்பையா முத்துசாமி, Karuppaiyā muttucāmi, 1953 – 16 November 2022) was a Malaysian politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Padang Serai from May 2018 to his death in November 2022. He was a member and Division Chief of Padang Serai of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition coalition. He was also patron of both the Malaysian Indian Armed Forces (PERIM) and the Former Malaysian Armed Forces as well as member of the board of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS) of the Bukit Mertajam Tamil School. Personal life and death On 16 November 2022, Karupaiya died from a heart attack while campaigning for the 2022 general election. 2018 Malaysian General Election
The 2018 Malaysian General Election, formally known as the 14th Malaysian General Election (), was held on Wednesday, 9 May 2018, for members of the 14th Parliament of Malaysia. At stake were all 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat (the legislature's lower house) and 505 seats in 12 out of the 13 state legislative assemblies of Malaysia. The 13th Parliament of Malaysia was dissolved by Prime Minister Najib Razak on 7 April 2018.
