Chania Football Club ( el, Π.Α.Ε. Χανιά) is a Greek professional football club based in Chania, Crete, Greece. They were established in 2017, as a result of a merger between the two regional clubs representing the Chania district in the Greek Second Division, PGS Kissamikos and AO Chania. The club currently plays in the Super League 2, the second tier of the Greek football league system. History AO Chania – Kissamikos During the 2016–17 Greek Second Division season, Chania were represented in the Greek Second Division by two clubs, namely AO Chania of the city of Chania, and Kissamikos, based in the neighboring town of Kissamos. Kissamikos had quickly established itself in the Football League, managing to outgrow, and eventually outperform its more prestigious local competitor AO Chania. Perivolia Municipal Stadium
Perivolia Municipal Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Mournies, Chania, Greece. From the 2012-2013 season, Platanias FC were based at Perivolia Municipal Stadium, which led to extensive upgrading and modernization work at all levels during the summer of 2012, to meet in full all obligations set by the organizing principle of the Greek Super League. Platanias (Greek: Πλατανιάς) is a village and municipality on the Greek island of Crete. It is located about west from the city of Chania and east of Kissamos, on Chania Bay. 2019–20 Super League Greece 2
The 2019–20 Super League 2 was the first season of the Super League 2, the second-tier Greek professional league for association football clubs, since restructuring of the Greek football league system. The exact system of conduct and how many teams will be promoted and how many will be relegated will be finalized in the summer when the final calls for professional bids are made public. It has been decided to hold Championship Round with the first 6 teams and Relegation Round with the last 6 teams of the regular season.
