Omar, Sulu
Omar, officially the Municipality of Omar ( Tausūg: ''Kawman sin Omar''; tl, Bayan ng Omar), is a municipality in the province of Sulu, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 28,070 people. It was created out of the 8 barangays of Luuk, by virtue of ''Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 194'', which was subsequently ratified in a plebiscite held on July 18, 2007. Luuk, officially the Municipality of Luuk ( Tausūg: ''Kawman sin Luuk''; tl, Bayan ng Luuk), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Sulu, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 37,873 people. On July 14, 2007, 8 of its barangays were constituted into the separate municipality of Omar, Sulu. Tausūg Language
Tausug (; Jawi: ; ms, Bahasa Suluk) is an Austronesian language spoken in the province of Sulu in the Philippines and in the eastern area of the state of Sabah, Malaysia, by the Tausūg people. It is widely spoken in the Sulu Archipelago (Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Basilan), the Zamboanga Peninsula (Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga City), southern Palawan, and Malaysia (eastern Sabah).
