Oleksandr Lukyanchenko
Oleksandr Oleksiyovych Lukyanchenko ( uk, Олександр Олексійович Лук'янченко, russian: Александр Алексеевич Лукьянченко; born 30 August 1947) is the former mayor of Donetsk city, in Ukraine. Life He was born to a Russian-speaking Ukrainian family in the village of Berdychi, in Donetsk Oblast. He attended primary school in the village of his birth, and secondary school in Avdiivka. In 1962, he entered the Makiivka Civil Engineering Institute, and then served in a tank corps in the Soviet Army. After his service in the army, he worked as a chief engineer at multiple factories in Donetsk. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he became vice-president of the city administration in Donetsk city on 27 November 1992. From 1994 to 1996, he worked in the Donetsk regional state administration, where he also achieved the post of vice-president. Donetsk
Donetsk ( , ; uk, Донецьк, translit=Donets'k ; russian: Донецк ), formerly known as Aleksandrovka, Yuzivka (or Hughesovka), Stalin and Stalino (see also: Names of European cities in different languages (C–D), cities' alternative names), is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine located on the Kalmius River in Donetsk Oblast. Avdiivka
Avdiivka (, , is a city of regional significance in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast. The city is in the center of the region, just north of the city of Donetsk. The large Avdiivka Coke Plant is located in Avdiivka. The city's population is officially estimated as ; in January 2017, BBC News estimated that the population ranged between 16,000 and 22,000. As of 3 August, 2022, only 2,500 people, or 10% of the city's pre-war population, remained in Avdiivka according to Vitalii Barabash, head of the city's military–civilian administration.
