State Route 316 (SR 316) is a long state highway located in Pickaway County, Ohio. The east–west route runs from SR 56 in the Five Points section of Monroe Township to SR 752 in Ashville. Route description SR 316 begins at a five-point intersection with SR 56 and Palestine–Williamsport Road in the aptly-named Five Points community within Monroe Township. The route heads east-northeast through farmland for about before entering the village of Darbyville. After its brief stint in Darbyville, the route crosses the Big Darby Creek and climbs a hill before entering more farmland. Ashville, Ohio
Ashville is a village in Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,097 at the 2010 census. Ashville is located five miles south of Columbus and six miles north of Circleville. History Long before the American settlement of Ohio, Hopewell Native Americans inhabited the lands that became Ashville. The Snake Den Mounds were constructed a few miles outside of the present day village and were believed to have been built prior to C.E. 500. The site was examined in the late 1890s by Warren K. Moorehead, where he found artifacts of the ancient civilization and skeletal remains. Centuries later the primary inhabitants were the Pekowi band of the Shawnee. Pickaway County is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,539. Its county seat is Circleville. Its name derives from the Pekowi band of Shawnee Indians, who inhabited the area. (See List of Ohio county name etymologies.) Pickaway County is part of the Columbus, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The future state of Ohio was part of the Northwest Territory, created in 1787.
